It's under the rear passenger seat in the cubby hole hidden behind a black bracket. Best way to get to it is remove the rear passenger seat as the 10mm bolts are under the carpet and removing the seat allows you to lift the carpet to access the 3 10mm bolts.
Thanks Toasty for the useful suggestion.
I am going to give it another attempt tomorrow with some vice grips this time around...wasn't expecting this issue today.
Does any one have a trick removing the idler arm when the bolt studs are spinning along with the nut? I have access to a Gen 2 which looks like it has the original OEM idler arm but when trying to remove the 4 nuts that hold it to the frame they studs spin freely with the nut.
Any one have...
You pretty much nailed it on the head Fugitive. Finding a Montero like a Gen 1 or 2 / 2.5 is hard because of the limited amounts available and even more so finding one in decent condition. They are not like Civics and Camry's where you can find them at every street corner...so searching for one...
Anyone near Chicago looking for a SR...looks like this ones just needs valve stem seals and its for sale dirt cheap.

My intention was getting some input on running this setup...its not something I am actively looking to get, but the opportunity has presented itself to get this wheel and tire package. If its something I decide to get and ride on them for a bit and not like them...I can easily resell them and...
Yeah...my brother in law has a buddy selling a set of wheels off his 2003 Tacoma. Thinking of scooping them up...just have to bore out the center bore of the wheels 2mm.
You got my opinion on my FS post....so you have a idea where I stand.
You really need to see what your future and eventually needs and use of the Sport or whatever vehicle you decide to go with. Someone previously made a good point on if you decide to go with a new truck, what maintanance...
I won't lie..it was hard to sell mine. I owned it for 4 years and in those 4 years I made some memories with it like family trips and sort. It was just a fun, reliable truck to own...I didn't have any issues with it. Like you...it started to feel a bit small. I have 2 kids and going on trips...
I had mine up for sale for about month 1/2 and majority of people that inquired about it were tire kickers and low ballers. I can maybe say a handful really knew what a Montero Sport was. My price was high..above the NADA value, but considering the mechanical condition of it and how mint the...
I switched to Valvoline Syntec full synthetic high milage oil about a year ago and I did see a improvement in engine performance and oil consumption but after a buddy talked to much hype about the Rotella T6 I started thinking of using it.
After reading this thread...i think I am going to try...
I have been reading and researching and realizing Gen 2 / 2.5's are pretty solid and reliable rigs. I originally wanted one when I was in the market for a SUV about 4 years ago but Gen 2's in general were hard to find and I was in a time crunch. I was also looking at Montero Sports and having no...
