more realistic is the Ural 4320's. I can't believe I let one slip through my hands a few years back. Taller tires and a tuned diesel, it would cruise comfortably (as a military truck can) at 70mph. The truck had the radio box and managed a whopping 12mpg.
I use some LED lights for lighting the outside of my Pinz. They are the CREE variety and are 4.5" x 3.5". I have them wired into the solar electric system in my truck. They are also run on my remote control system, easier to find your truck when it lights the way. the two side lights (one on...
The trail is fairly easy for anyone with a little offroad experience. All of the major obstacles, which used to be the trail, have bypasses. Almost any stock pick up can make it and anything 4x should have no trouble. they have been bull dozing the roads in from the north to Oro Bell Mine and...
Both decent brands that you would not regret having. One thing I find with people making the switch to a fridge from an ice chest is they forget that unlike an ice chest you can add to the fridge along the trip. That is to say I put in more drinks (usually in the evenings) and unopened...
A few members of the local Pinzgauer group headed out to do the Rug Road. The road is so named as the farmers, ranchers and miners used to put carpet down to aid in traction and erosion. We started at the trail head Friday around 3:30p. We stopped at a local shooting range that had been built...
bread in the dutch oven is the best but it has to be Sourdough. I just got my starter to the point where it gives that nice and sour flavor to the breads. The last two loaves of whole wheat were gone almost before they got to room temperature.
Heading out this weekend and I will be taking...
I don't think I have ever made a mead that did not ferment for at least a year. Bottling too early will result in busted bottles as they explode in storage. Of course you can guess at the time to bottle and get some really good sparkling meads. The smallest batches we do is 3 gallon. My wife...
Mikey,
Our pinz group has been out every other weekend since the first of the year. We have logged a few miles and seen some great parts of AZ. I hardly have enough time to get the laundry done before it is time to head out again. I have even given up unloading the fridge in the truck, just...
I have always wanted to do Canyon De Chelly. I even have the DVD that Leon Skyhorse made "Canyon De Chelly through the eyes of the Navajo". It is a great CD if interested in indian history and the canyon. I have talked to Leon on several occasions about doing a multi day trip in the canyon...
There is no reason that an Expedition Portal run could not be set up. Would not even have to be vehicle specific. Any excuse to get the rigs out and play with them.
Maybe Mikey will set up another one in the KofA area on the south end. no pressure just an idea.
I know I appreciate any rig...
^^^^ maybe you should set up an "open to all vehicles" outing in your neck of the woods;)
Or you could join the pinzgauer group on the Rug Road outing coming up in a couple of weeks. If interested drop me a PM and I can get you the info.
definitely a big THANKS to Mike and Melissa. Had a good time, had planned to stay through Monday. My passenger who was going to bring his own vehicle did not get doctors approval to drive his truck (he had an injury to his hand that had not yet healed) had to be back for work on Monday. Guess...
I like to plug mine into house power for a few days prior to the trip. Lets the temps come down without straining the vehicle systems. mine runs off the solar system on my vehicle so I like to conserve when I can.
