Ok, so in doing some research on some other options we're considering, I realized I didn't post up any KBB info.
Here's my rig, as it sits...
I figure I have about $2000.00 in maintenence in the truck. (I'm including such things as the hubs and tires)
I also have $1000.00 into the ARB...
That's my personal pick for best year of XJ
4.0l without head issues (those started in 2000-2001 depending on casting number)
AW4 tranny (or AX15 if it's manual)
NP231 tcase (or NP241 if you have AWD)
C8.25 rear axle
Dana 30 front axle (both of those are good up to 33-35in tires)
Do a good...
Close family has a gently used truck that I'm considering. It very well may be given to me for cheap/free.
I could leave it as-is, but maintaning 4 tires is much cheaper than six, especially seeing as how I won't be using it to capacity.
I'm not 100% clear on why you'd need to do anything to...
What is required to go to a single rear wheel (SRW) on a longbed Dually pickup? I'm assuming the axle is a 14 bolt (Model year 2000 truck)
Obviously, one would need to go to a flatbed or SRW specific bed, to eliminate the "dually hips".
Is the axle able to accept a 3/4 ton wheel, with a...
First post updated with solid asking price. We're definitely looking to get a different vehicle soon that will accomodate my construction/hauling duties.
Cheers!
I think the Astro is the way to go. Either that or sell it and get yourself an f150/f250 pickup that'll fit your people. Chevy 1500's are also pretty durable.
That's a very nice truck, Zimm. I had an '86 in high school, and was a nice, honest rig.
Question: I might have missed the details above...what is the current mileage?
You are a bad, bad man...hahaha.
My dad uses the crap out of his Westy camper for building materials, actually. Alas, the boss (Mrs Bigdaddy) has vetoed vanagons UNLESS they have the pop-top. All others get the nose-wrinkle. :D
Thanks! It's certainly an on-going conversation that my wife and i are having. It IS a great truck for us, and we're smitten with it, but The 5-speed swap and lift were always on the agenda, but require some serious downtime and coin(at least for us)to accomplish.
We'll just see how things...
-EDIT: Ok, after some long talks w/ Mrs. Bigdaddy we'd like to offer up our trooper for $5900.00 obo
-We're very open to offer conversations.
If this advert is up, its still for sale...and it'll be up on craigslist shortly at a non-portal'r price
My build thread...
Wedco nato-style non-carb cans can lay on their sides with nary a drip. Just need to nestle it in a good mounting solution, and make sure your gasket is fresh. (mine's 8 years old and is still pliable, but my can lives inside most of the time.)
