It's funny I have this discussion all the time with people and it doesnt apply just to automotive things. Any time something I own breaks that I am uncertain of I Google the make and model of the device with the issue and odds are if I am having the problem someone else is too.
First time I...
I had been thinking about a similar system like this until I saw this thread and what Pilat and you said. I hadn't really thought about that which is stupid on my part as I really like the anonymous "look" to keep the cretins from looking further at my vehicle. It's too bad as I think this seat...
Yep...exactly how I've played it with groups. Ha. Always a good feeling/sound when I hear that crackling of small stuff taking hold while I'm still in my sleeping bag.
I have never been to the quick change oil shops but have heard guys describe some of the crap they've done. Really bad. No training, no knowledge and paid commission so they routinely make stuff up. Pretty bad. I'm sure like any business there are good ones, but I havent taken that chance...
No i didnt mean the fire didnt get hot enough. He commented in the video that his fire didn't last the night and he was remarking how cold it was when he woke up. He was using KD Pine lumber initially and I dont know if that's what he used all night but that wouldnt last the night, that's all.
Great video. That pretty much mirrors what I thought would be the case. Easy to set up- a decent amount of room. Plenty warm with the stove.
I wonder how cold the low was that night. I saw the -31C he showed before going to bed. I also wondered if he had used hardwood for his stove if it would...
Okay thanks....that's what I had figured but the comment about a CHP then becoming a motor kind of threw me. I assumed (yep....there I go again ha) the CHP cop was a motorcycle cop and being a Motor signified something different. Thanks!
Can I ask a stupid question? What does (in this context) being a "Motor" mean? I tried googling it but couldnt figure it out.
Interesting thread. I hadn't really given too much thought to this subject. We just dont have the temps that would cause me to choose s different color based on that...
I like the thought process. I know what I contemplate getting stuck, I'd probably be better off most times having a winch in the rear to back me up than I would in the front. I like the flexibility of a receiver hitch version.
I have gone through your same thought process as I would prefer not to have the weight of a winch always mounted.
IIRC the 11K Warn Zeon winches are the same footprint as what fits in their carrier. So maybe just get a more robust carrier to have portability. My guess is if your stuck it will...
I would look at marine cable seals like Blue Seal (just as an example, other companies make them too). Lots of sizes and differences.

Is that a study you can share or point to it online? I am very curious about it. Years ago I did a study with a friend and given the differential in fuel cost versus the mileage difference I estimated it would require he drive it at least 100K miles to break even. I redid it a year or so ago and...
A neighbor of mine was having some work done at their house and the contractor had the ARE DCU Diamond Plate cap with the barn doors. Looks really great the way the side doors opened entirely up to reach in for equipment. I was surprised he didnt have tool boxes inside the side doors but it...
Or get him a gift certificate at a knife place and let him decide. He wont be upset that you didnt pick one. Even if you do and tell him he can return it he might feel obligated to keep it. This way he gets what he wants and you give the gift you wanted to. Win win. Good luck!
Curious if anyone here has done this/does this and the pluses and minuses. 4 season tents are pretty expensive and it seems like the typical ice fishing shelter (which are pretty reasonable comparatively speaking) would make a good tent for winter camping.
Many have "insulated" walls (meaning...
