Managed to get a little work done last night in between helping the wife with a bit of welding for one of her projects. All the parts to install the new pickup in the gas tank with the Holley Hydramat had arrived so I figured that was one simple thing I could knock out quickly. Overall the...
Question for the peanut gallery
Okay, so I'm getting a new fuel pickup since I'm getting a new fuel tank and new everything else...
What I'm debating is going 3 tube or 4 tube...
The stock tube setup is 3 tube: Feed, Return, Filler Vent. I believe this uses a vented gas cap.
Obviously this...
Bought floor patch panels today.
So a little good news.. I found LMC's patch panels are cheap-ish and they have ones specifically for the footwells and body support panels! I've looked at some how-to videos and tutorials and this doesn't really look like a big deal. I think I can get these in...
I try to be productive when I do get down there... :)
You know, that's a really good question. The answer is.... kind of. Once everything is bolted in place I'd have to loosen the bolt on the pump clamp so the pump could slide back, then I could loosen the AN couplers to the filter and remove...
Another weekend... more progress!
Feels like I got my momentum back on this thing. I wasn't able to get down during the week, but I think that's going to be the new norm. Weekend work should get things there in a reasonable time though.
Saturday I was able to convince my friend Ron - the Pinz...
Nope, he's over on the Peninsula.
Poker Flat and Saddleback Mtn. are up by Downieville. I'm sure there's more than one Saddleback though.. ;)
And yeah, I've got a Mavic Pro. Love it.
You mean Echolink? IRLP has been running well recently. There was a week or something where it was down. Echolink still hasn't been setup. The repeater owner seems to be struggling with the config and recently has been moving, so not terribly high on his priority list unfortunately.
More photos because the server doesn't like posts with lots of photos apparently...
New Captive Bolt

Passenger Well Rust Hole
Puck Yeah!
Much Better Exhaust Clearance
Engine accomplished!
Seems to be set back pretty far...
Hey everyone! Remember me? :D
It's been a couple months since I've been able to really work on this project, so I haven't had much to update the thread with. The usual things have been taking my time away from it - family events, work, etc.
Back in early August I got together with a buddy I...
Hey,
Kind of sort of. I've missed a few due to being out of town recently, and attendance has kind of dropped off. Generally we're still doing it every Weds. night and some nights a handful of people show up. Some nights not so much.
I'm considering switching it to semi-weekly.
Yeah.......... this is exactly what these are... rebranded Blackpine Grizzly sleeping bags for $30 more than on Amazon or eBay. What exactly is custom about them? Kind of tired of all these companies branding really generic things and calling them special. Like, I get that this is a large part...
DaveInDenver is starting to get into a highly valuable but rather technical side to the discussion that's often lost on even experienced hams.
There's MANY technical requirements that radios are supposed to meet; ones that are set out both by the FCC for compliance to their operating rules and...
Slightly more experience but recently not-so experienced. I know where you're coming from.
Here's my $.02: if you're interested in doing anything more than talking on a few channels, you'll get sick of the cheap ones fast.
I have:
TYT TH-9800 mobile radio
3x Baofeng UV-82 HT radios
Yaesu...
The stock pump outta the '73 is a mechanical external that sat on the old engine. Probably not gonna go rigging that up for a slosh tank. If the external Bosch 044 is too loud, or craps out or whatever, I'll just transition to an internal high pressure pump on an extra TBI sending unit I have.
Labeler was $99 and the cartridge was $45 on top of that, so yeah, kind of pricey. But the last engine swap I did was a rat's nest of wires. Total mess, and ended up making things super confusing. SO I'm kind of dedicated to making this project better. So kind of worth it too. Plus I've got a...
The hole was from the accident the truck was in. Guy I bought it from says it was in a 2006 Chevy Suburban that got totaled. Said it didn't run long after the accident so there shouldn't be any internal damage from running without oil or particles in the oil from the cracked off oil pan pieces...
A little hacky, but have you considered putting the filename in the title or caption prior to uploading to a new system? If you put it there I know Flickr will automatically read it and put it in the Title or Description fields. That would at least allow you find the appropriate file for...
I used to use Flickr Pro, created a new account recently for my build and found the free account has a free 1TB AND will generate BBCode for you... so yeah, VERY forum friendly.
ooooooooooooooooooooooK.... So it's been a bit since I last updated. And really it's been a bit since I last worked on the truck.
Life got a bit in the way the last few weeks. July 4th weekend I was busy with a hike up Mt. Whitney. Pretty epic. https://theta360.com/s/2KRGk75PO5UV0w0pAUwT9fKbI...
