Thanks. I hear ya, funds are spread rather thin around here as well, just about every spare penny goes on finishing this project. Had a couple hiccups with the Rover last spring/summer that depleted the entire years budget for it; basically, it came to a screeching halt. Hopefully what was to...

Nice.... Are you kitting it out in period appropriate gear for displays and such? My Rover is a '63, but I'm kitting it out with gear that's contemporary to the early '60s and older.

I hear ya... and it's incredibly hard to get back into the whole PT thing. I really, really need to drop some pounds, so I've started off - again - doing baby PT. Care to share a pic or two of that lantern and box? Would love to have one of those. My father-in-law has a Coleman m1950 stove...

ROTFLMAO!!!! Had a friend that went into the Chair-force a few weeks before I went into the Army. Later we compared notes... those guys were on vacation.

I have pet squid... never heard him use the term, but 'tactical blanket' wouldn't surprise me. As to the chair-force... do they go outside long enough to even use one?

Was wondering that as well, but I was in the Army and it was always called a poncho liner. The DIs were sticklers when it came to proper kit references. You didn't dare refer to your rifle as a 'gun' or you paid by running around the barracks buildings chanting the rifle/gun ditty. Then I was...

Interesting... in all of my years of being in the military, helping train military/non-military people after that as well as collecting military surplus all these years, I never heard it called a "woobie" until at a gun show a few years back.

He was born the year I entered the Army. 'Woobie' must be a generational thing.

Don't think I'd worry much about that... none of it comes from boutique companies like Yeti. Basically, if it doesn't cost an arm and a leg they won't buy it - it won't stroke their egos.

Last time I wore a pair of Army issued BDUs was in 1989... still pick them up occasional to wear when hiking, camping and such.

Not sure why, but the heavy duty ponchos like I was issued have really, really gone up in price.

Right here... military surplus is essential. Believe it or not... about 5 years ago I found a small, military cargo net and a large panel of camo netting in the ditch. Both are in virtually mint condition and the camo netting panel is big enough to cover the entire Land Rover. I still have...

    Oxford In America

Hello again - Any idea if either the Boise OK or Lake Fort Smith AR stops are a go? Both stops are about a 5 hour drive for me and I'd hate to drive that far only to find out they aren't happening. Are there any pit stops scheduled that are closer to the Belle Plaine Kansas area? I'm about...
