Good tips! I know there are some luxuries we have in the USA, like turning at a stop sign and flushing toilet paper. But I didn't know you couldn't pass on the right over there! I've driven through Belgium, Netherlands, and France a long time ago. I don't recall if they have those same rules or...
Thanks for the replies!
Are there companies that assist with sort of thing? A big concern is being cited if the vehicle does not conform to local standards/laws. It's def lowered and louder vs a stock car.
Not quite an overland question but I can't find an answer online.
I am considering visiting Germany in the next 1-2 years and would love to be able to bring my own car. I've read that you can have foreign vehicle in the Europe for up to 6 months but I can'f find any information regarding...
As others have mentioned. It's all about compromise and finding an option that best fits your individual goals. I traveled in a VW West for nearly 10 years and lived in it about 80% of that time. While down in Guatemala years ago, I began wanting something larger.A big thing was living space...
Thanks for sharing those!
I'm in a middle of busy work rotation and won't have time to look at at in detail for a bit. But I did skim through it. I'm not sure if it applies to my application, but I think it's always good to have info out there for community to find.
Anyone have a diagram of the air brake system?
I'm trying to see what valves are involved in the systems and potentially get a parking brake valve ordered.
I'm 24v as well. I've found 2 sources for the OEM 200 amp unit it had, but they are very expensive. I'm still trying to find other more economical sources. I've bought a 155 amp unit to hold me over for now.
Curious to hear what your alternator changes are. I"m replacing my 200 amp with a 155 amp. My goals is to eventually get a 200 amp again and keep the 155 amp unit as a spare.
But thanks for the referral!
It's been a very interesting week with sourcing these parts. I really appreciate all the support, messages, and assistance from everyone on this forum. I've been able to make new contacts for future part needs.
In terms of travel goals, I really wanted to venture...
My problem is actually the opposite where the parking brake is not locking the wheels.
I'm getting movement at my wedge actuators and contact within the drums/pads. But not enough to keep the truck from moving.
Do you happen to have a diagram of the system and a part # to the valve you replaced?
Thanks, that is actualy helpful.. I didn't think to disconnect the pair lines to see if that activated the canister. That is also a possible failure point though it is newer.
The truck was towed to a repair yard and an aftermarket alternator has been ordered to use as an immediate replacement. The broken alternator was taken to a specialty shop in San Francisco who is trying to find a replacement casing. When I first bought the heffalump, the windshield wipers did...
Sorry if I'm missing it, I don't see a Bosch A172 replacement? Canyon share a link please?
I agree about the mount, I just don't know if a replacement is avaible or how much it would be at this time. I'm waiting to hear back from unimogcanada. If one is available/afforddable. I'd probably want...
Just did actually.
We couldn’t get the alternator casing to hold. So I got towed to a shop that does big truck repair and fabrication.
I’m asking them to pull the motor mount and repair it. I’m also going to ask them to help with the brakes and see what else they can tackle.
I’ll have to...
I big reason why I may want to keep the 200 amps is air conditioning.
The current habitat battery bank is 400 amps but I may increase that to 800amp-1000amps later. I am also considering a 12 volt a/c system that can cool the habitat while driving and has a max draw of 55 amp/hr.This won't be...
I don't think that would work, the mounts are too narrow. :(

I really want to thank everyone on here for all the help, it is really appreciatd Spending the the last 2 days on a busy intersection on an on ramp is not ideal and I'm fortunate to not have been ran out by police or the public. I've been mostly on the road the past several years and have...
