A little something I have been working on...

Brentbba, Here are some specifics from post #2: "A little more information about what went into my light system on my RTT... I built a main harness that comes into the tent at the "fulcrum point" where the tent pivots at. From there the harness splits with one tangent going up the center...

A little something I have been working on...

Thanks for the compliments Dan, very kind of you. I am exploring the red "filter/cover" option for my system. It seems like there is certainly some demand for it. I hadn't thought of it initially but understand its benefits. Good stuff. Do you have a tent on your trailer currently?

A little something I have been working on...

Dan, the kit I build has a dimmer switch incorporated into the system so you wouldn't need to add too many layers per se, but dim it down to your preferred lumen level output and there you go. I like the red electrical tape idea. Looks like it works really well!

3:70 gears in an 80 series?

I believe we have spoken on that thread before, you are UK Aviator, yea? I am contemplating pulling the trigger with Akella here in the next month or so. I will post up differences, benefits and possible losses with the change. If I go that route, I will purchase the front diff assembly...

3:70 gears in an 80 series?

Toyota still makes the 3:70 gears specifically for the 80, both front and rear. The European manual transmissioned 80's got them. JDM spec 80's never had them nor did the OZ or SA models, European markets only. I'm not sure of any aftermarket gears available. Toyota gears are spendy, but very...

3:70 gears in an 80 series?

Thanks for the information and insight Pokey. Do you have an 80 with 3:70's? I have the HDFT with the H150F, not the H151F 5 speed transmission, which has a lower first gear than the H151. It gets up and moves very well. Most of my driving is highway and around town, with some back country...

3:70 gears in an 80 series?

Johnnyquest, not imported. I bought the truck from the original owner in 2003 with 60,320 miles on it. I (with the help of a good friend) converted it over to a Factory Toyota turbo diesel with manual H150F transmission (Yes it is AWD) using only Toyota Factory parts, harnesses, interior trim...

3:70 gears in an 80 series?

Has anyone swapped out their 4:10 for 3:70 differential gears in their 80 series? I have an H150F manual 5 speed and I run out of (comfortable) top end at about 65 or so. At least that is where my HDFT seems to be happy cruising, right at about 2400 RPM's. I do have a lift with 315/75R16's...
