Why not move the tray back 3-400 and mount the spares on a frame between the cab and tray? Fold up a ramp roll the wheels down. Weight will be central on the chassis and you should still have around 3 m of tray space- once you have shortened the tray ? Might be cheaper and easier than a fold...
Yes I have been mindful of this whilst fabricating up all of the bits and pieces. I have a gvm of 6500 kg Tare 4400kg, so that's around 2100 kg to play with. Hopefully when I'm loaded up I won't have to offload to many "non essential " items.... hmmm that might be difficult!
I will probably be 6t plus. I have enclosed the tray, will have my quad bike, a lot of my building tools, camping gear, fridge, 200lt or water etc- we r going around oz for a yr or 2 so if it fits it coming with us! If I get time before I go I would like to check axle weights for peice of mind.
Kym is still waiting on the approval for the nps wheels (in oz) he is hoping it will be soon - the regulators have been speaking with his engineer so he is waiting for someone to stamp the form.
I am picking up a set and getting the ssa suspension fitted next week...going to be an expensive few...
I have used my TRED's a couple of times now and they have done the job quite well in sand; weighing in at 5.2t.
Thanks Joe , that is exactly what I'm after, input from members with trucks who have first hand experienced using them
Cheers- Brent
Hi, just wondering if I can get some opinions on what recovery tracks to buy? ( in oz)I have seen some of Aussie irons you tube vids and they seemed to be a great help. Does Alan at outback accessories sell them for trucks?
Cheers
Hi John, Yup I think I'm sold on the dpf delete, have found a guy to do it so will c how it goes next week. The reckons they start playing up after around 120000 kms
It's not something I want to be dealing with out in the middle of nowhere. The cost now could be far cheaper than repairs/ towing...
Hi 4 x 4 truck,
I have a 2013 crew cab nps that I bought from perth and drove home- Sydney. The truck was pretty much standard, 2 tool boxes and racks over the tray. I used around 20-25 litres per 100 km. I found the truck would sit comfortably on a bit over 90km/hr and was much better on fuel...
Hi glen,
So these gains were achieved without altering the DPF in any way? If so can I ask why you didn't get the DPF deleted for further improvement ?
I am planning on doing some sort of tune not sure yet need to find someone in Sydney . I am hoping to gain better power for towing and will...
Kyms wheels will still have some added costs, apart from the purchase price. I think Once his set up is certified you will have to pay him a $650 fee for the compliance paperwork and tyre placard. It can be then inspected by an engineer to be legal. You will also need to recalibrate the speedo...
Hey John, I checked out you ad on gumtree. Does that truck have a seperate air con unit for the rear seats?? If so can you tell me where you got it? I am worried the standard air con might struggle to keep the kids in the back cool when we are up north in high temps.
Cheers
Hi John , I am currently setting up my 2013 nps and have all the same questions. When I spoke to Kim Bolton regarding his wheel and tyre combo he was waiting for approval from the heavy vehicle regulators to have the setup certified, within the next few weeks he hoped. I think I will go this...
Hi Gait, Van battery is 100ah. Runs lights, 12v tvwater pump, 12v stereo. Has 80 watt solar. Not huge power requirements.
The way I see it I need to be able to run the fridge when I am driving. As far as I know the gas should be turned off when towing van, so fridge must be run on 12 v. To do...
80amp 24v. The load would vary as the batteries reach different states of charge, I am assuming. The only constant will be the fridges- (estimate around 7-9 amps 24 v draw)
Cheers
The Isuzu has plenty of room on the passengers side of the engine, this is where the compressor to run freezer bodies is usually mounted on the nprs. As you mentioned these guys make up brackets daily so I was going to look for one at a wreckers to modify to suit an alternator, but I am now...
