3 Weeks in Baja – Surfing, SUPing and Dirt Roading

I lowered it as much as possible and it seemed to help a ton. I'm still going to put an air deflector on it though. Just didn't do it before I left, which definitely would have been nice.

3 Weeks in Baja – Surfing, SUPing and Dirt Roading

In general, yes, I am planning on mentioning my route. I don't plan on giving my coordinates or specific point or bay names. Are you saying, " Do not name the places you camped?"

Why I switched from a Tacoma to an F150

Well, looks like this thread got some good traction!! Fun to see the banter. Anyway, I've got the build to a good place and just rallied it down the Baja. Maybe some of you would be interested in the final build in a video I just posted: It's the start of a multi-part series, the rest of...

3 Weeks in Baja – Surfing, SUPing and Dirt Roading

Hey Friends, Just completed a dream trip of mine: The Baja. I vlogged as best as I could and am putting together a multi-part series, starting with "The Build." As I complete each series, I'll post it here. But for now, please enjoy, and ask all the questions you want!! Can't say enough about...

Horrible reverberations between roof and RTT

Hey dudes, after endless debate, I finally landed on a Alu-Cab expedition RTT. I decided to mount it as far forward as possible to use enable bikes to be draped over the tailgate, as well as use the a cabinet I have mounted in the bed as a step. This also puts the weight super far forward over...

Ideal Gap between truck roof and cab over camper overhang?

This is a pretty old thread, but here goes. I just mounted an Alu-Cab onto my '21 F150. It's mounted to a Yakima bed rack system. My first highway drive had intermittent air reverberations -- I could put my hand on the ceiling above the back seats and feel it. Felt like air was getting balled up...

Planning my Baja Trip -- looking for advice

I'm super psyched! I've got my two places on the way down mapped out, as well as two+ on the way back up. Now the real question: do I bring the e-moto?

Mountain destination alternatives to Alpine Loop?

Try the tincup area. All kinds of loops, and if you're truck camping, it quiets down at night (most side x side drivers don't seem to camp). Similar proximity to Texas -- just go up the San Louis valley.

Planning my Baja Trip -- looking for advice

Hey y'all!! I'm super excited to be planning a dream trip -- Baja. I'm looking for places to check out, specifically places to surf (pacific) and SUP/snorkel/fish ( Sea of Cortez). My plan is to drive w/ a buddy down, surf along the way, drop him off at Cabo International, pick up my fiance...

    Utah is Rad !

Wild. Ran it through winter/spring of 2021. No problems if you didn't mind driving on ice, praying it didn't break (somehow missed snapping a pic of the 2' deep potholes).

    My 2019 Ford F-150’s journey.

Nice!! I have a 2021, similar setup, just no cap: a tonneau cover, Yakima bed rack and a Alu-Cab RTT. Just got the RTT, so haven't slept in it – still sitting behind the house under a tarp. Waiting until I get my summer tires back on, and will be equipping it for a trip to Baja! Love the rig!

Why I switched from a Tacoma to an F150

Wow!! I wish I would have consulted you before I wrote my blog post... Very well written response and super informative! It's hard for me not to see similarities between Canon and Toyota (both VERY successful Japanese companies). Both shot ahead of the market, rode their reputation, let the...

Why I switched from a Tacoma to an F150

When do you expect your slide-in campers to be ready. I'm always looking for what to put on it. Right now, I have an amazing tent / awning setup, but ultimately, I'd like to get a lightweight slide in camper.

Why I switched from a Tacoma to an F150

That's great to know! I've done a fair amount of basic mods w/ Forescan. I think this is so cool it's relatively easy to change code. I did Bambi, Police Mode (for a while until I realized I like interior door lights), air pressure warnings, etc.

Why I switched from a Tacoma to an F150

I've been down Black Bear pass. I feel w/ a spotter (see video), it shouldn't be an issue. There's really no off camber tight turns, which is what worries me when a trail has high consequence.

Why I switched from a Tacoma to an F150

Yeah, the storage in the backseat is amazing! Fit's a rifle case no problem. My tent, sleeping bag and pad never come out of the truck now. I actually have the full RCI skids underneath. I slammed pretty hard on a rock on my Hancock pass trip... That's all it took. I ordered some skids the...

Why I switched from a Tacoma to an F150

Let me start off by saying that I’ve been a Toyota guy my whole life. My first truck was an ‘81 Toyota single cab; I built a rockcrawler ‘88 4runner, beat the crap out of a ‘90 Extended Cab and fell in love w/ my ‘98 Tacoma, which I had for well over 10 years.... So then why did I make the...

    High voltage battery system question

First and foremost, thanks for this! Yes, very helpful. I have a pretty solid understanding on how everything works, but having the right terminology is very important as I dive deeper. I'll start by clarifying: my primary objective here is to have a battery pack to charge by e-bike (more...
