    Plastic trim caps/inserts

Not even quite sure if this is the place to post, but... I'm thinking about drilling holes for some small lights in the hatch of my suburban (thread to be started tomorrow, I've had it 6 hours and ready to cut in to it...) I would like to be able to hide those holes down the road when it comes...

Simple Rotopax Roof Rack Mount Build

Looks good, I like the way you worked around the curved bars. Any reason for the gap in the channel under the mount? What you had on the shelf?

    2007 Suburban - MUDHORN

Maybe I missed it, where did you get the spindle? It looks like the smittybilt piece comes with a full replacement jeep bumper, maybe you just used that. I'm interested in making the same, but I'd probably do it from scratch.

    Not so overland camping trailer

Update! We spent Monday through Friday of New Years week at Brazos Bend State Park. One rainy day, tent in screened shelter, ez up over the picnic table, tarp on the trailer. It went well. The Plano trunks are working pretty well. Weather stripping in the lid kept them dry. I’m thinking about...

    Not so overland camping trailer

Another successful camp at a state park. I keep looking at the trailers you guys are building, and the sites I'm staying at, and I wonder: If you aren't literally camping on your trailer (tent cot/rtt/teardrop) and there's a driveway with parking logs 20 feet from the picnic table/tent pad...

    Enclosure box for remote charger?

Small or next size harbor freight box might have enough space to put the 10' wires, as well as usb cables and such. And room for a travel battery pack if you wanted it to able to be self contained. https://www.harborfreight.com/1800-weatherproof-protective-case-9-316-in-63518.html

Can anyone in Australia help me find this.

Might be worth modifying the fly you have. Ripstop on ebay looks like $7 a yard. If you don't have a sewing machine, maybe you could get a tailer/alterations shop/sail shop to help you out? Some amount of iron on hem tape, iron on velcro, and then drop off to get sewn over.

    Not so overland camping trailer

Thanks for the replies. I'll be painting the inside white, just finished painting the inside of the box with some leftover offwhite/tan. Definitely helps see what's inside better. The beetle is white (OK white and rust and dirt) inside. Girls are pushing for purple outside of the trailer...

    Not so overland camping trailer

Talking to my self, but that's not so uncommon :) Last weekend went very smoothly, weather was good and the girls were ahead on their school, so we grabbed clothes and basic food and headed to the forest Thursday night. Having the big stuff loaded is a game changer (you knew that already)...

    Starlink Antenna Vehicle Mount/Mast?

Is the plan for it to live outside while offroading? I think it has small motors to maintain orientation, and whatever other sensitive internals come with a satellite receiver, I would be concerned about traveling with it outside. Maybe it would clamp to the shell as well when down? Mast would...

    Mattress pad storage

Cots are only a year old, cabela's big outfitter or something, prefer not to spend another 150 each. I have shoulder issues, wife prefers very soft, dad is getting older and was almost ready to give up on camping. Some kind of mattress is pretty much required, and I've already got 6 leaking...

    Mattress pad storage

Thanks for the replies. The folding is interesting, do you feel the breaks when sleeping, and is it worth it? (if it wasn't a choice, I guess it is) I've been hesitant to use a vacuum setup, mostly because of the need for a machine to vacuum, but it could work out. I'll go to a surplus store...

Working from Not Home -- review of Jackery 500 & Solar Panel (and WeBoost)

Good video, I liked that you showed all the wires crisscrossing the setup. I guess that video was primarily about the networking/power, I think I saw you slept in the 4runner and most of the gazebo was office. What issued would you have had with rain/wind/dust? I saw the windows were open for...

    Mattress pad storage

I have a couple foam mattress pads that make our cots much more comfortable. Started with a very soft one for my wife, then I got a firm egg crate, and my dad got a firm solid mattress. The soft one fits in a pillow case with a bit of sitting on it, but the firm ones are currently just getting...

    Not so overland camping trailer

Trailer worked well for another weekend. Might get a little more expo cred, the sub shop we stopped by for lunch on the way out didn't have any pull through spots so I pulled off in the grass. It was a little sideways. That counts right guys??? I made a fire grate that fits our griddle...

    Not so overland camping trailer

Rats, I had a post written and then had to work for a bit. Oh well. Preparing for this weekends trip, we've cut back on some kitchen gear, consolidated in the box, and picked our favorite chairs and sleeping pads. Carrying all the kitchen gear from the trailer to the bockety picnic table, next...

    Not so overland camping trailer

I was thinking almost the same thing, but even just building the HF trailer appears to add about $300 to the value. I had a guy ask to buy it when I took it to get plywood, I threw out $750, but that I was about to take it camping and I didn't have the time to build another before about...

    Not so overland camping trailer

As far as CRV vs Escape, Escape has the V6, 240hp 223tq, wheelbase 103in. CRV has the same wheelbase, hp between 140 for the first gen and 200 for the latest, but I don't think it would be a problem. Trans in the escape is either starting to slip or is badly tuned, I only drive it a few times a...

    Not so overland camping trailer

Same machine I used for stick also does mig and tig, I just didn't feel like cleaning as much paint off and I wanted the practice. I have a couple stainless projects in mind, and as far as I know, mig and tig both require gas purge, which gets expensive. Or at least more setup. As far as tires...

    Not so overland camping trailer

Hello Forum Part introduction, part trailer build. I've been lurking for a while, getting ideas for my regular car camping adventures, tightening up my packing list, getting my gear more organized for easier prep. I've replied to a few threads, including the home made roof bars I made for...
