My Taco Phoenix Pop Up Camper

Let me "up beat" the posting! Just got back from a great weekend camping up at Canyon Lake, Texas. Beautiful weather until today--no heater needed, and condensation was low. Started to rain this morning--so far no leaks! No complaints this post--as I finally got to use the TC, even if just...

    My new pop-up

Umtaneum, Did Rob add the solar vent for you? I thought that was going to start being standard equip given the condensation issues. Mine runs all of the time--even when she's folded up.

My Taco Phoenix Pop Up Camper

Ok, opened her up again this weekend... And darn it, still watermarks and leaks. Ugh... It's not even like we had that much rain (less than .5"). It's not as bad as before, and now more centralized to the center back panel. I suspect this is why the floor is wet. On a good note, it doesn't...

    2002 Lance Lite 845

Unfortunately, the TC is still for sale. It is my son's--and because of his job, he is unable to use it as he had planned. He's dropped the price to $8500. As indicated above, a brand new AC was installed last summer... that was a $1000. Very nice, clean unit.

I don't know what to think about Phoenix. They've pretty much closed the door. I will say that I have heard from several others in PMs re: their issues. I know Victoria has also had major issues. I don't think mine is the only one, but being a better informed consumer could help out the...

My Taco Phoenix Pop Up Camper

Almost 3" of rain, and while the leaks weren't as bad, not completely cured. I got the top sealed, but the back wall to the floor was soaked. The flooring looks horrible. Am going to investigate more tomorrow. I think it is coming from the top of the door. Spent today repairing the lift...

    My new pop-up

Umtaneum...a few questions. How does the power lift work? Where is the motor? Does it eliminate the need for the "safety straps" for the regular lifting mechanism? I wish I had known about a power lift when I bought mine...I thought I had added every possible option. I see the AC is on...

    My new pop-up

My thread wasn't meant to dissuade people from buying a Phoenix TC--just educate them before committing a ton of money like I did. I never want a fellow comrade to go in blind. The company has a place in the TC market. While I believe their quality and craftsmanship could use considerable...

Just Jeff, Phoenix did send straps to prevent the collapse. So far it's good. As far as buy back, that won't happen. I spent the weekend applying the eternabond to the roof. As Mr T would say, "I pity the fool" that would have to ever remove that stuff. Sticky is an understatement...

My Taco Phoenix Pop Up Camper

So somewhat of a trip report, albeit without the TC.... I spent two weeks, and almost 3700 miles, continuing my Route 66 trek from Texas to Arizona. Stayed in the Sedona area, went all over Arizona and New Mexico. Got to see a fine sight in Winslow, and a pretty fancy flat bed Ford. Painted...

My Taco Phoenix Pop Up Camper

Mino, I understand about the condensation. When I was stationed in Germany, we used silica gel tubs/packets all over our apartment. I'm wondering if those would be effective when there is no/limited power sources. The ones we used overseas were absolute lifesavers in the rainy seasons...

My Taco Phoenix Pop Up Camper

Thanks Mino. I ordered the eternabond on line; should be here this week. I looked at going through the wall with a bolt... on the outside in that spot is my awning. Will have to ponder this one a while.

Victoria, What size eternabond tape did you go with? the 2" or 4"? Did you use the white? I was thinking gray since the roof is already that color. Was one roll enough?

That would be nice--but a replacement or refund is not an option. (Long story, I did ask... Customer service is lacking, to say the least.) The "fix" for the water damage is using Tilex. Given how much is needed to clean it, I don't know how mold would survive unless I just didn't stay on...

My Taco Phoenix Pop Up Camper

Here's the recent rain damage. The new straps...kind of loose looking, don't you think? The pulled out screw. Darn It. And recommendations on filling the hole behind it!

My Taco Phoenix Pop Up Camper

Looks like the straps were successfully installed... although they look a little dubious. As I was checking it out, I noticed that one of the arms is pulling away from the wall. Wasn't like that when they dropped it off, so assuming that they didn't understand the lift mechanism. One step...

My Taco Phoenix Pop Up Camper

I just got back home from an extended trip. While I was gone, Phoenix sent the TC roof straps and a new water pump to a local dealer. They were installed this last week, but haven't had a chance to check them out. I need to get in there as we've had some rain--which hasn't been a familiar...

My Taco Phoenix Pop Up Camper

Terra Ops, I have always tried communicating with the manufacturer/Rob before posting on this forum. I have several emails--and in each, I identify the problem. The response is typically, "that is normal" or as I indicated in one post (re: the fantastic fan), "we just install the item." I...
