Good news/bad news.
The refit is going well, replaced the the old panels with renology 100w flex panels, installing a 30l fridge/freezer . Waiting on my mechanic for the cam/tune. Thats the good news.
Bad news is the XO said there is no way she is camping in it, bed too small, living...
I’m interested in the 21 gal aux fuel. Please don’t ask me why...... it involves the War Department ( the missus that approves builds). Hence, my bullfrog. Build is getting finished and sold ( not enough room for the war department) and will probably go to fund a snap treehouse for a truck...
Started wiring in for the isolator and connecting truck to camper power. Also starting to hate the prestige alarm ;) so I might pause installation of power for the moment in favor of tracing and removing the alarm system. Nothing like having your ear a foot from the horn when you reconnect...
As luck would have it, Im currently reading your build thread lol. I only have about 500 miles on it so far myself. Currently at 134k miles. When i pulled the rear diff cover everything looked good inside. Going through the build codes gave me GT5 4.10 gearing and G80 positrac , its a 10...
Back to the story: So I found it 130 miles away and figured it was worth the trip to see, so I grabbed the towbar for the rubicon, stopped by the bank for a wad of cash and headed north . On arrival I saw the good, the bad, and the ugly, but after a test drive, I was in love and a deal was...
This whole thing got started as I bought a small boat (named the Tadpole) and my 03 Rubicon didnt like towing it at highway speeds. Ive been a lurker here for years and reg poster on adv rider (where most of my "overlanding" occurred (though i did build up a 17 f-150 crew cab for a couple of...
Can you replace your tiny window with a non opening unit ? Failing that , flipping it over so the knobs are in a relatively higher position may give you the clearance you need. Just thoughts
Building nets with magnets is the way to go IMHO. I loved my skeeter beaters when I had my "Minibago" Xterra. Not so useful now with my f150 (alu body construction) . Buying a bunch of neo magnets on amazon is a great way to go, grab some pet rated screen and fit as one part per side and...
Im confused a bit. Im looking at your countertop, specifically the stove access. Is the idea to lift the lid and use the stove, or to lift the lid and pull the stove out? The reason I ask is if it is the former, how easy is it to access the side mounted knobs on the stove? Still amazed by...
Well, I actually happen to have my window sticker for my 150 (v8 model) at my desk, used this site below (ford direct used to handle it) and got a sticker that matches mine by VIN. Hope that helps. The 36 gal tank is a listed $445 option but wasnt directly attached to an equipment package...
Awesome build, subbed, and frankly, a little in awe of y'alls build skills ! At first I was worried about the cab over section thinking about the lack of reinforcement (even knowing you and the XO are engineers), but just about everything ties in and distributes the stress (glassing in the...
I found a quick and dirty pic of the outside of the setup I use to haul one bike, tent, secure storage (all my gear is in the bed), and no increased height over roofline.
Habitat increases your footprint not only in length (the distance you must clear behind the truck if rear opening) but height (the arc of the opening) as well.
Between FWC shell and Summit, thats a closer comparison as a "Shell" .
You probably already have a cooler, stove, etc. Heater isnt...
Go easy on yourself, put the cycle on a hitch mount either the roll up or the lift type.
My RTT is actually mounted to my diamondback cover, all my gear stored in the bed under the cover, and the bike (used both KLR650 and Wr250R) on a hitch mount . The also keeps your roof as the highest...
like the chuck box. Its great to have friends with misc. bit laying around !
On the interior, before you go to a ram mount setup for anything, take a look at the proclip usa setups. Ive used their mounts on several vehicles to hold a variety of electronics (most recently an Ipad air 2 in...
Ok, brother. I just gotta say that is an awesome build, I love pick and pull builds because that's where the original ideas come from. Keep it up!...... oh and get the other box, you will kick yourself if it isn't sitting there to get your mind working on the possibilities;)
