Man... if there was a company that made a stock pop-top or high roof for the short vans, I would jump on this. Great deal for how much work you've put in to it.
You have any idea what mpg you get with that gearing and those tires?
i think the rust may be the biggest issue... if you look at the sellers previous posts there is one about the extent of the rust on this vehicle. It sounds like it could be more than just sandblasting the frame and painting it w/ por15... Maybe the seller will chime in, because I agree, it's a...
If I were in the position to take on a project I would certainly consider this... superb base vehicle, provided the rust can be addressed without too much hassle.
These elements are really cool. Especially because you maintain a super functional around-town car that gets great mpg. That's a lot of miles and I'm not familiar with that engine, but if it is known to last 350k like that the seller states, seems like a solid deal.
Could make an interesting platform... no relation to the rig, just found it in my weekly searching. I msged them asking about the interior standing height of the rear box. It looks like there's a small chance that it may be taller than 6', which would be amazing.

From what i understand, the AWDs were only produced as 2500s in the year 2003. So 2500 AWD vans are super hard to come by. I always thought that was a bit of a bummer - the GVWR on the 1500 chevy's'/150 fords is just on the low end IMO to be able to handle a build out.
I emailed them and am waiting a response... not sure if it's the '94.5 + engine w/ a turbo or the pre-turbo IDI 7.3L engine. Also not quite sure why it would come with a second engine if the current one runs fine?
That's a sweet rig. I've never driven a Fuso, but they seem like a super capable off-road vehicle. As the add says, when you compare the price for that to something like a 4x4 sprinter, you're getting a lot.
without knowing many details... $23k seems low IMO. A van that's only 6 years old with under 60k miles I'd guesstimate to be worth something around $15k without a 2wd conversion. 4x4 conversion and interior conversion professionally done would add some value. It might be because I'm on the west...
Yeah that looks like a pretty solid deal, not sure if those iron cross bumpers are worth it for quality vs. just for looks, but that + the 7.3L + 4x4 conversion is definitely worth that price. Of course the underbody is the million dollar question. Based on the underbody of my 2003 van from NY...
Hah! That's awesome man, congrats!! I think you got a good deal at the end of the day. Not the screaming deal that both you and I were hoping for, but a good deal none-the-less. I doubt you'd be able to find it for sale for elsewhere for any less. I think you are correct on the 12ft box. During...
2010 FORD E-350 Utility Truck, $16.5k, 131k miles. Just stumbled on this... never heard of rockport van boxes (in comparison to supreme and other well known manufacturers), but it would be a pretty interesting starting base... Not to mention the box already has quite a few interesting...
Lookin good Paul! (it's chris from HGT). The mouse vagabonds have been a common occurrence for us as well... trying to stuff all the cracks with weather stripping & store smelly food in the roof box overnight, but they always seem to find some way in and something to snack on.
I was surreptitiously watching this auction closely, hoping that somehow it would end up sneaking by for like $8k and I could be its new owner. Selling price was decent in my opinion. 2003 was the last year of the legendary 7.3L engine and it has 160k miles, comes from a small town (meaning that...
Definitely not meaning to attack you with that comment - just making an observation. I own a van from NY and grew up in NC, I'm familiar with the east coast rust/rot. I also now live on the west coast and am familiar with 20yo vehicles with hardly any rust due to spending their lives in the...
