    Diesel Tuner

Tony Wildman is a 7.3 PSD legend. Not a van, but very very happy with his tunes in my 02 7.3 CC DRW. If you have an automatic transmission there's no one I'd trust more.

Thoughts on making a 2wd van more capable

265/75-15 are 29.5 or taller on 7" rims. Manufacturers state a "measured rim width" which is the size of wheel the tire is mounted on when they measure it. Firestone states 7.5" measured rim width for their Destination LE and a height of 30.7". Narrower wheel = taller and vice-versa.

    Newbie AWD Astro Overlander Build

Great start! Sounds like you've gone a long way toward solving the misfire. Astros are notorious for going through fuel filters, if you haven't already, replace that. Not sure what year the 4.3 went to individual coils (1 per cylinder) but if that's your situation I'd try swapping coils and see...

2014 Express AWD cargo van PNW 4 season camper

RE: Webasto issues...I was looking for something else in this excellent thread today and this picture caught my eye. Just from past experience dealing with exhaust systems (nothing Webasto specific) that looks wrong to me. Not only is the text upside down (not always a good indicator) but with...

AZ Astro Van project - slow build - advice welcomed 2004 AWD LT

    You'd lose less than 1/2" of ground clearance. Half of that I think. 235/75-16 tires: 235 / 25.49 = 9.2 * .75 = 6.9 * 2 = 13.8 +16 = 29.8" tall 225/75-16 tires: 225 / 25.49 = 8.8 * .75 = 6.6 * 2 = 13.2 +16 = 29.2" tall Total height difference is .6" so loss of ground clearance would be half...

Thoughts on making a 2wd van more capable

1994 Dodge B150 and D150 share: upper ball joint, lower ball joint, outer tie rod, and inner tie rod but not tie rod adjusting sleeves. That being said, I suspect spindles may interchange. Why? Dodge didn't share tie rod adjusting sleeves. That's because the track width, frame width, or both of...

Chest Style or Front Open Fridge for Van?

Did the fridge have pwm fan as oe? Did you retrofit pwm control? Is that a 3 pin or 4 pin (wire) fan? How big of an improvement did you see with the new fan? What's the better fan's best feature(s)? I'm fan-ignorant. Am I correctly reading your photos of a Noctua NF-F12 PWM? Am I correct in...

The Dana 50 TTB and getting it under my E350 van.

Here's the star of the show: Tired of the all the self-aggrandizement, self-promotion, chest thumping, fist pounding and cock measuring. Yo, BajaSportsmobile, not your forum, not your thread, not your concern. Is Agile Offroad even an EP supporter? Then people rush to his defense saying he's...

Thoughts on making a 2wd van more capable

Gotcha. I didn't read that closely enough. A block may induce axle wrap, especially off-road. Yep, the shocks aren't supposed to provide lift, just damping.

Thoughts on making a 2wd van more capable

Can't say it'd be silly if it's level. Might be overly stiff though. Maybe a timbren or airbags would be a good compromise. As for a front-end lift, I've never messed with a Dodge van suspension but 2wd Dodge trucks of that era are typically lifted with new coil springs, coil spring spacers, or...

Thoughts on making a 2wd van more capable

EDIT: Just notice you have a Dodge so...Or just buy one off a Bronco in the junkyard. Their 33 gallon tank and your 35 may share dimensions.

AZ Astro Van project - slow build - advice welcomed 2004 AWD LT

hard to tell from the small picture but it looks like leaf springs in the rear. Aerostars use coils in a 3-link. The total lack of crossmembers looks right though. Aerostar frames were fairly heavily welded to the bodies so separating one with that much paint intact seems unlikely.

New guy here with Van questions!

There are two ways to lift an IFS. I've done both on GMs in the past. 1) move non-moving things away from the frame with drop brackets. 2) move moving things away from the frame by increasing the angle/length of them. 1) is bad because the brackets and their attachment points, especially at...

New guy here with Van questions!

I'd shun the AWD GM in a lifted application just due to increased maintenance of IFS when it's raised. At stock heights they're fine but when the angles get modified and big tires increase the loads placed on idler arms, tie rod ends, etc they become a pain. BTDT.

Proud owner of a 1998 E-450 Class III Ambulance

E450 uses Dana 80 most years, some Dana 70. E350 uses 60. nope, same tires, different gears for better performance and durability IF an E-450 was originally built in 4wd it would use a Super60, like the F450 for increased GAWR. I'm unaware of 4wd E-450s. The answer are are I believe the...

Proud owner of a 1998 E-450 Class III Ambulance

E450 has a higher gvwr, stronger rear axle, lower gears, different suspensions front and rear. That's about it. Similar to comparing an E150 and E250, in a more extreme sense.
