This story and build had taken place over the last 8 years. I have never felt like it was complete enough until this spring to share my progress.
I had been looking for an off-road trailer for several years. In the February of 2007, I purchased a Coleman Versa Trailer to try to make into what...
I have to agree. We are at the +/- 4000 mile mark on our Alaska trip, and our Tundra has been great. I built a sleeping platform for it and will share pics when we get home.
I have to agree 1st gen Tundras are comfortable and reliable. We are at the +/- 4000 mile mark on our Alaska trip, and our Tundra has been a great excursion vehicle. I built a sleeping platform for it and will share pics when we get home.
Looks like you had an awesome trip. We were down there the same time. We obviously need a guide, because we only saw a few of the larger road side ruins. Do you guide for clients who are willing to cook dinner?
I bought my '05 DC Tundra several years ago, and as many have already said kids grow up. I have three now ages 12, 11, and 8.5. They fit very well. The back seat is cavernous. We fit so well that we are taking it to Alaska this summer. We may not be friends when we get home, but we will fit.
I too use a ratcheting load bar to keep things near the tailgate. I got mine at O'Rielly's. I feel your pain. We are doing to Alaska this summer, and I hate how disorganized the truck bed can become. I am going to put a sleeping platform in the bed, and then compartmentalize it for...
You can get new brass bushings and greasable bolts from http://www.vintagejeepparts.com. I just did, so I know that they are available. My local spring shop had greasable bolts, but they were a little long for these narrow springs. These springs are found on the front of 47-49 CJ2As and 50-53...
I think the solution you are looking for is Bed Rugs. It would replace your current plastic liner, insulate, and are easy to clean. It also looks and feels like carpet.
I too was a Jeep guy. Grew up in the back of my Dad's '77 Wagoner, my family has had 5 others. I drove my Cherokee for 13 years, and now have a Toyota, and love it. The only time I miss my Cherokee is at Easter time when I can't rock crawl like I used to (Tundra is just a little bigger)...
is there any way to heat the bars coming off of the frame to the slider enough to bend them and get an inch of clearance? I think that I would try this before cutting and rewelding.
Googled it. According to the state of Arizona, it is Pima.
I have had the opportunity (if that's what can be called) to visit with Frenchie during the EJS event. During those visits, all of us had to move our wallets to our shirt pockets.
You probably already know this, but that is Grosvenor Arch.
Was this trip really fom a year ago? Your opening post says 2014, but you are usually very caught up on you trip reports, and this February has been very April like. Just wondering :)
Always love your trip reports makes we want to...
