    Sale Pending! Award winning f550 based full custom camper. $225k

    It’s a molded unit. I used the seat as a mold and built a fiberglass cup that fit it, then built the platform on that. So it is very stable.

    Sale Pending! Award winning f550 based full custom camper. $225k

    Thats the kind of trade we are looking for, suitcases of cash and an e350 :) We want to play with a van based rig for a while before we finalize the details on our next build.

    Sale Pending! Award winning f550 based full custom camper. $225k

    The lifting roof made the outbound screens an impossibility (because the windows are on the outer shell, the screen apparatus would have been between the two walls when down). While I like every aspect of the outbound windows, I thought the quality on the screen apparatus was a little lacking...

    Sale Pending! Award winning f550 based full custom camper. $225k

    I built this camper myself from the ground up over several years, with no expense spared and extreme attention to detail. All of the systems are higher end than you would find on an earthroamer and all of the capacities greater (Ah of lithium, solar, fuel etc). It is moulded custom composite...

    Rivnuts and fibreglass skins

    I’d personally recommend against it. I’ll skip the detailed explanation of how a fiberglass skin bonds to its core, but the take home point is that is strength is from the aggregate of its bonding surface. Adding a point load to the skin alone does not result in a very strong fastener and...

    Supplier for 2 point flush mount paddle latch/lock FiftyTen is using?

    There are a few suppliers for industrialas on ebay that import them in large batches. I contacted the guy direct and bought them direct.

    Supplier for 2 point flush mount paddle latch/lock FiftyTen is using?

    I used the industrials latches for the storage hatches on my build. Overall I was happy with the quality, certainly better and smarter design than the eberhard stuff. Also superior to the trimark product I used for my entry door, but, that product atleast was solid metal. That said, the key...

    @Adrifters - F550 Surf Camper Build - Adrift Motorhome

    Its really a wonderfully untouched gem. We rarely see others out there.

    @Adrifters - F550 Surf Camper Build - Adrift Motorhome

    For the most part yes. I use 4 low a little more often than I might otherwise, but the truck has plenty of go off the line and cruises comfortably at 80. Im going 4:88s with 37's on the next one, but for reasons more specific to that engine and its torque curve.

    @Adrifters - F550 Surf Camper Build - Adrift Motorhome

    PS - I am currently doing it again, unwrapping the new build shortly, and chose a gas engine again. It’s the 6.0 LS engine this time with pretty similar specs.

    @Adrifters - F550 Surf Camper Build - Adrift Motorhome

    I’m an outlier but I see no point in a new diesel unless your rig is over 16-18k lbs. And I think the benefits are decreasing even in that weight range. Take a look at Earthcruiser who no longer even offer the diesel option. I will say, the diesel is comfy and easy to drive, my truck works...

    High Efficiency Air Conditioning Units for non-generator powered campers

    MFZ-KJ09NA Its 230v and I use a separate inverter. I've been told that HVAC doesnt really start to get efficient until around 48v DC for a bunch of reasons. I tried the dometic 12V blizzard unit for trucks and was extremely underwhelmed. My bank is 9.6kwh (800ah @12V) and I have 1350 watts of...

    @Adrifters - F550 Surf Camper Build - Adrift Motorhome

    Overall height is about 9'10". Our COG is fairly low with the locker below design and all of the real weight in it. That said, enough of the initial design was analog and so I'm not able to calculate a Cog. Weight is about 60/40 rear axle vs front.

    Reliability of 4wd conversions

    I should have clarified, Fuso really not an option. I don't want another older truck and the new ones are too problematic IMHO. I've had a Mog and that falls under the "never again" category (I actually just got the chills :) Suffice it to say Ive done a ton of reading and for COE in the size...

    Reliability of 4wd conversions

    I'm in the early design stages of a new camper build, basically deep into solidworks renderings, and once again, facing the great debate on which base vehicle. We'd really like to be smaller than our current f550 is, but we also need more room for kids and dogs. Hence, I've been considering a...

    @Adrifters - F550 Surf Camper Build - Adrift Motorhome

    Well, to be honest, I didnt even look under there. It was an all hands on deck to get the babies and the dogs out of harms way and then try to extract. My COG is extremely low on the camper, it was one of the design criteria. And those big tires really don't flex much until you get down to 5-8...
