More progress today. Wifey wanted me to hide the toilet when it isn't in use. So, I built the under cabinet shelf and the shelf for the future freezer then I built a sliding door for the 💩er. I will make some fill pa els once the plumbing is done. Waiting on brown Santa to bring me my weather...
Sink, Drain, Faucet, and Grey Tank today. Waiting on a few connectors before I do the plumbing. I'm also going to add an additional 12v plug for the 12v freezer
Well, I decided to make some more enhancements based on usage. I spent more than 50 nights in the trailer last year and learned a few things. The 3 things I am currently working on are.
1. Bench space
2. Indoor water/grey water
3. Freezer (just big enough for some frozen meat.
And...because...
Until you put stabilizer Jack's down... single axle trailers do not really twist a whole lot from the loads that come from the ground. If you use jacks, level the trailer first and just use the jacks to keep the cabin from rockin...
For construction, everyone has already pointed out the two...
I went back on my no propane idea. I still use the induction but it is necessary to have fire during fire season. I got a little propane fire pit, a Coleman 2 burner and an 11 gallon tank. I also added starlink. 40 nights so far this year.
This is the first time I have deployed the full kit. Fun fact: it got down to around 30 degrees Saturday night. With just body heat, we had to keep the vent open to keep it cool. 30 outside, 57 inside.
I do not have a good answer for my poor decision. :) Honestly, there was a reason but I can't remember it anymore and the cons far outweigh the pros. Now it is just a discussion piece at camp.
Tech set up (I typically work full time while traveling so we can travel more)
Starlink
Starlink Ethernet Adapter
Port replicator
Speedify app to combine internet sources. I have tested this at home and it works well. Can't use chatGPT with it. I haven't needed it while traveling. I guess it's...
Well...first long trip is in the books. 3 weeks in Baja and a couple more in the states. More mods coming based on experience. Overall, I couldn't be happier.
Hey folks, I have used a 110v, 4.4 cubic foot fridge in my trailer for the last year and a half. It has never been shut off. The inverter is on 100% of the time. On the 12v side of the inverter, the fridge draws between 5 and 6.5 amps when running including .9 amps from the inverter. Cycle...
I have both. Fridge in the Jeep and Fridge in the trailer. I use 12" cube baskets for storing kitchen stuff. If we are going to cook lunch on the trail, I just throw 2 baskets in the Jeep.
I use a Bosch 2.5 Gallon Point of Use electric. They come in 4 and 7 gallon versions as well. Depending on ambient temp and how hot I want the water, it takes about 30AH to heat a full tank (it draws about 130a for just under 15 minutes on the DC side of the inverter). I recently discovered that...
Backing up.... The distance from the hitch to the tires should be close to the same as the wheelbase of the tow vehicle. That little guy was built for Jeeps with <90" wheelbase. Get your tape measure and report back.
