Overland Journal Classic Build: 1995 Range Rover

Stage two is now done and I spent the day finishing up the article for Overland Journal. Very happy with the way things are going. A little more to do and then I'll have the perfect daily driver. :ylsmoke: Actually got the final mod done today as well which speaks a little to my habit of...

    Chainsaw and bolt cutters?

I used bolt cutters to break into Congo once. They are very nice for cutting locks when the locals don't have the key. Also used chain saws in Guatemala for tree clearing. Done it with axes and machetes as well, but the cs is much faster if a lot more trouble to maintain. cheers

    range rover classic pedal box

The Disco pedal box only works in the 1995 RRC. I'd look on ebay.co.uk I've had good luck sourcing Euro spec parts there. Keith at RoverTracks often has a lead on things like that as well. cheers

Overland Journal Classic Build: 1995 Range Rover

Hey, I bet I'm not the first to try to optimize a bad system. I'll check into using a dial gauge on the plunger lift; I have one after all. Thanks for the tip. cheers

Overland Journal Classic Build: 1995 Range Rover

So I've never been a fan of chrome on vehicles and recently I've discovered that that extends to silver of any kind. Grays are fine, but silver actively annoys me. Call it my overland vanity, but one goal on this Range Rover build was to get rid of all chrome. The rear bumper was easy as were...

    Thoughts on Transplants- 300Tdi vs. 3.9 v8

5 speed in a classic is really nice. :) I've been enjoying 26 mpg with the R380 behind a 300 in mine. Can't say she is fast, but she can cruise at 75 easily. cheers

Paper maps for the Central and South America?

For Central America Nat Geo make fantastic maps for Belize and Panama. For the rest you have to rely on ITM. The Honduras ITM map is particularly awful, many roads that don't exist, incorrect town names, incorrect city, town and intersection locations. Very hard map to get anything useful out...

Overland Journal Classic Build: 1995 Range Rover

When I say 'play with the injection pump timing', that may be a bit of an overstatement. I've found that the timing on the injection pump is much more critical than the cam. The cam can move an eighth or so and still be good, but the pump has to be dead nuts on each time. What I do now when...

Ambu is still in the cards, but I figure I have to get this OJ RRC build out of my way first. Condor: wow, yeah, seen those. I think I like the ambu better, but that's most likely my bank account talking! cheers
