    Beginner bike for a non-enthusiast

I wear baggies over my padded spandex shorts on longer rides, I used to ride with Fox baggies that had padding built in, that were good also. Lots of areas to fine tune the ride also. Seat up and down, forward and back on the seat rails, and tilt (nose up or flat). I used to get numbness in...

Building some Baja Divide Bikes from our fatbikes

Back in Alaska and got out on Crescent Lake Trail in the Chugach National Forest and got my wife out on her new 27.5+ wheelset for her fatbike. She now has Hope hubs and Velocity Dually rims and Schwallbe Nobby Nic 2.8 tires. I finally got around to add my King Cage mounts to my fork so I can...

I had to search for a picture of the OD Green. I like it too. Enjoy the ride and post some of your adventures/ trip reports in the Xterra and bike here for us keyboard jockeys to ride along with.

Building some Baja Divide Bikes from our fatbikes

Thanks for all the people in the Midwest that make these trails possible. It was fun being a bike tourist after being gone for over a decade. Get out and ride some of these if you are in this neck of the woods.

Building some Baja Divide Bikes from our fatbikes

Next I went northeast to the CAMBA trails (Chequamegon Area Mountain Bike Association) Cable and Hayward Wisconsin. Hayward and Cable have become a destination for the young active tourists and not the normal musky fishing and hunting crowds that flock to the northwoods. There are many IMBA...

Building some Baja Divide Bikes from our fatbikes

I got to spend some more family time in Wisconsin Rapids with my brother and 3 nieces at the BMX track. These kids are little rippers.

Building some Baja Divide Bikes from our fatbikes

In Wausau Wisconsin I went to ride the single track trails of my youth at 9 mile forest ( home of the 24 hours of 9 mile) a county park in Marathon County. Camping is near by at Rib Mountain State Park.

Building some Baja Divide Bikes from our fatbikes

Next I went Northeast to Wausau Wisconsin to ride the new gravity park at Sylvan Hill built by the same trail builders Rock Solid Trail Contractors out of Copper Harbor MI that built many of Marquette MI single tract trails.

More from Levis Mounds. If you live in the Midwest GO THERE it is some crazy good riding and camping. I loved the sandstone bluffs and being back in the pines.

Building some Baja Divide Bikes from our fatbikes

I went back to the Midwest and Northern Wisconsin for 10 days of family and biking. Short trip report but lots of pictures. I flew out of Anchorage to Milwaukee via Alaska Airlines (bikes fly free or cheap if under a certain weight) and rented a 2017 Chevy Colorado for my adventure rig...

    Beginner bike for a non-enthusiast

I think you can find some nice bikes in the Fuji line up. The Nevada is a 29er but also look into the 27.5+ bikes. Wheel size is similar to the 29er but more tire and sidewall. Or if you wanted to stay in the 29ers I would say find a hardtail bike with 29 x 2.6 tire would work well for you...

    Build & Trips on a '12 Trek Mamba 29er

Glad you made it back to the truck. Remember that this trip just made you a tougher bikepacker through experience. I've bonked on trips, had catastrophic equipment failures, some injuries and plenty of hike a bikes. Every one is memorable except the one when my wife went over the bars and took...

Building some Baja Divide Bikes from our fatbikes

After canceling the Baja Divide trip I still have the bikes being built up for a similar trip in the future. Not having a need for a bike light on my summer wheels I had the SON dynamo laced into the DT Swiss BR710 rim and wired to the Sinewave Beacon. I had the Onyx hubs built into the 27.5...

    Rugged Off-Road Hitch Rack

Fantastic review of the Cuckoo cover Howard. That should almost be a different thread with the information on the abilities of the covers. I need them for protection of road grime and salt in the winter months. I still am on the hunt for a good tray rack that swings away from the side, my...
