    SLO's FWC Hawk Refurb/Build...

Oh yeah, almost forgot: the Flatbed. The flatbed on my last rig was AWSOME! So much more usable space than a traditional body pickup. Honestly, I don't know why any pickup doesn't, at the very least, come from the factory with an option of a flatbed. On one side I stored all of my windsurfing...

    SLO's FWC Hawk Refurb/Build...

I forget what 'They' (meaning organized local mtn bike advocates) were calling the area across the highway from Gooseberry. Is it "legit" now & are they calling it the 'Avocado Trails'? The last time I was there (5+ yrs), 'They' were talking with the BLM & trying to make it a legit trail head...

    SLO's FWC Hawk Refurb/Build...

Nice! There's good riding and camping up there on the mesa. If you were there for 9 days I'm guessing you sampled the goods across the highway as well. In regards to the bike rack; go for a front mount hitch. Don't have to worry about it being in the way of the camper door, won't back into...

Ideas? Need a hard-side with four season insulation and propane heat.

Nice! Both to your 'name' and the wording of your question! While I don't have a direct suggestion in regards to make/model, I can pass along some info. I've camped at Rogers Pass, BC in a generic S&S camper in sub 0 degree temps, with no problems. That being said, I dried (& kept) both my ski...

    Adhesive recommendations

Hi all. Posted this already over at the 'Hard-Side' section. Got some good input over there, but seems to be more of a DIY community over here; figured I'd try for more input. I'm rebuilding the door to my my camper & looking for suggestions on adhesives. I'm reusing the original FRP...

    Adhesive recommendations

Hi all. I'm rebuilding my camper door and need some recommendations on adhesives. I'm reusing the FRP door skins. The foam I'm using for the core is foil-backed. Since I'm reusing the skins and all the holes (window, door latch) need to be lined up, I don't want to use a contact style...

    Popup FWC traveling and guns

CJCA, Well put, you more or less echoed exactly what the study I read said. Living, working, hunting, and playing in Grizzly country, I'll take bear spray over any fire arm any day. I also carry it with me when traveling in MX, as guns are highly illegal there.

    Popup FWC traveling and guns

Oops, sorry, the links out of date. Moral of the story was your gun isn't going to help you nearly as much as a can of bear spray.

    Popup FWC traveling and guns

Don't know what exactly you want the gun for; it doesn't sound like exclusively for bear protection. But in case that's what you were thinking you, may want to read this...

    cold weather and pop ups

From a former FWC owner (loved it) who tried the winter camping thing (wouldn't do it again), here's my advice before you pull the plug and buy a pop-up for winter use. First off, your going to need some materials to try this out. A tent, Mr. Heater (or other moisture producing propane...

    Real life MPG numbers wanted.

How are prices of diesel vs gasoline up there? Diesel has dropped down below mid-grade gasoline down here. At least in MT.

    Real life MPG numbers wanted.

I finally have some number to contribute to this thread that I started! I recently sold my 2003 Tundra and 1988 FWC Grandby. For what I got for those, I bought a 1999 3/4 Dodge Cummins, QCLB, 5spd AND a '95 Cascade 8.5' hardside camper. With the old rig I was getting 13mpg. First trip with the...

    Four Wheel Camper Flatbed Conversion

Build your own, but don't let that project slow you down. A 2' ladder will work fine for awhile. Where is that picture of the steps from? I'd like to see the rest of that rig. I like the bumper. What is OX12? Enjoying the updates, keep up the good work.

Thanks guys, keep the info coming. Motrhed, great to see a direct comparison between a gasser and a diesel. Where I am (NW MT) those mileages pencil out to a $43 savings with the diesel over 1000mls. Would take a while to overcome the extra price of a diesel at that rate. How have the...

    WTB FWC Grandby model

I know its not in your search are, but.... I've got an '88 Grandby on an '03 Tundra flatbed I'm looking to get rid of. I'd like to get rid of them as a package, but would consider splitting them up. If you decide to increase your search range let me know. Good luck.

Thanks for the info guys, keep it coming. If anyone has done engine mods that would affect mileage, please include that info as well @ AK - Is your rig manual or AT? @ sisu - Year and transmission of your rig? BTW, my current setup; '03 Tundra with FWC Grandby, gets 13mpg on a good day...
