GoalZero Yeti 400 Lithium only puts out 10.9 volts

10.9 is no load and 100% charged, it will run fridge for 30 hrs or so on AC. It is like there is a voltage limiter on DC.

GoalZero Yeti 400 Lithium only puts out 10.9 volts

Fully charged my IB GoalZero Yeti 400 Lithium, and today went to run my ARB fridge off 12V DC, and did not work. I switched to AC power, it worked fine. When I got home I tested everything, and it seems in DC mode the GoalZero Yeti 400 Lithium only was putting out 10.9 volts, not enough to power...

feedback on dual battery system design?

Your limited experience with a handful of cars has caused you to generalize that all cars have a single battery, a single terminal, and are connected all the same. This is not the real world. Couple this with your imprecise statements "your car will run just fine without a battery", and "you...

feedback on dual battery system design?

Try this, disconnect negative cable from battery like you say. Then put a 12V test light on terminals of battery. Does it light up? So yeah, it DOES matter how things are grounded.

feedback on dual battery system design?

Uh, no, and again you are generalizing. Lots of stuff is grounded directly, and not through the frame. For example, my Jeep ECU will work, it will pressurize the fuel pump, send fuel to the rail, but not turn the starter as that is frame grounded. Radio and many other accessories work just fine...

feedback on dual battery system design?

If manual, you might be able to clutch start it. I have seen it a couple of times with older cars (a CJ-5 and a Datsun 240) that have few electrical requirements. As the overwhelming majority of cars are automatics, this option is not usually possible. Newer vehicles also have a ECU that will...

feedback on dual battery system design?

The negative ground broke does not disconnect the battery from the rest of the system. That just affects things that are grounded through the frame. The battery is still working and putting out charge to everything else connected to it. How much works or does not work is dependent on how it is...

feedback on dual battery system design?

So, just to confirm, you have never actually tried to run "without the battery at all"? You just had a "ground lug broke off my battery cables" on a car WITH a good battery, still connected to everything else? And as a result of this incident, you are generalizing that ALL cars "would likely"...

feedback on dual battery system design?

So it runs without a battery, and now it also runs without a ground. I guess it also runs without fuel.

feedback on dual battery system design?

ROFL. So MFGs go to the effort of putting batteries in cars even though "the alternator provide sufficient current to run the necessary loads." Feel free to test your theory by pulling your battery and seeing if your car still works.

feedback on dual battery system design?

If it is a backup battery, why even hook it up? Just keep it charged and in the tray/trunk. Sometimes old school is the best and cheapest solution.

OPINION: Single or dual ARB compressor

I went with the single/portable. I saw the single vs double as trading speed for current draw. I decided I did not need the speed, and since I was getting the portable, I wanted lower current draw as it might be in several different vehicles. I chose correctly, I as I have used in in my Hummer...

    Hummer tires?

Which Hummer? Which Size? What does available mean? The final year H1 Adventure Package was 37.50x12.50x17 Goodyear MT/R and is a standard size. They can be delivered almost anywhere in world, but I am sure there some places they are not in stock. Even when I ordered them here in DFW it was next...

Vehicle Mapping, GPS, Emergency Comms, setup Help

Legacy for me. I had a Garmin and it still works. So I still use it. As my iPad does not have GPS, I need an external GPS to connect to it via Bluetooth. The iPad is nice as it is big screen and easy to read. For your needs "Americas, Africa, Europe, Asia" you might need more than a tablet as...
