    Blue Sea 7611 or 7622?

When you don't have the remote switch installed. :) I never installed the switch in my FJ40. Though that scenario probably doesn't apply to most people who'd install the switch. I did, however, install the in-cab switch in my Discovery, and I still like having the under-hood manual lockout on...

    Blue Sea 7611 or 7622?

If you plan on jump starting through the 7622, or winching through it, make sure your wires are sufficient for the amperage. You don't want to start a fire after all that hard work installing the stuff! Blue Sea has a great Circuit Wizard iPhone app and calculator on their website that helps...

SNOW PEAK IGT 4 w/ Accessories

These Snow Peak setups have always intrigued me, but how to you transport the table in your truck? Any pics of it packed for a trip?

    Clancy '97 D1 Build

I'll definitely be following this build! I like the simplicity of your bumper, and sounds like it's designed well for actual recovery use. Curious to see where you go with new products for the D1. I've always liked the idea of a rear swing-away bumper; just not sure if I'd want to add the...

    1999 Disco I 300TDi: Fixes, Mods, & Trips

Oh, and if I size up to 235/85 (31.7") tires when I'm due for new rubber, that would drop my RPMs back down to 2312 rpm at 60 mph. Which is right in line with the stock design for a 5-speed! Am I just convincing myself that these gears are going to be fine?

    1999 Disco I 300TDi: Fixes, Mods, & Trips

I’ve been running a variety of gear/tire/transmission combos with Ashcroft’s gearing calculator, and the 4.12s and 245/75s combo doesn't seem too outrageous for my 300Tdi and ZF auto, especially when compared to the RPMs that the Rover engineers designed to. To summarize all the data I've been...

    1999 Disco I 300TDi: Fixes, Mods, & Trips

Sounds like I'll be limited on the top end. I'll be sure to post my experience. Not sure how the gear ratios differ between the R380 and diesel-spec ZF; might be in my favor, I don't know, but not enough to make up for the 4.12. Hmmm, might run the gears anyway for a while to get a feel for...

    1999 Disco I 300TDi: Fixes, Mods, & Trips

That's a good reference point for me, ZG. What engine/gearbox are you running?

    1999 Disco I 300TDi: Fixes, Mods, & Trips

Spot on, guys. Only a 4x4 community would get excited about 5-gallon buckets! These contain Truetracs with Ashcroft 4.12s, all at a price I couldn't refuse. Supposedly only 500 miles on them before the guy rolled his Disco and threw in the towel. I'm almost more excited about the gearing...

    1999 Disco I 300TDi: Fixes, Mods, & Trips

It’s been 5 months since my last update…so much for posting a thread every week on the build progress! Ha! Maybe the key is keeping things short and sweet, so I’ll just leave this photo here of two 5-gallon buckets in my back seat. Scored a sweet deal on what’s inside, and I’m excited. Would’ve...

    Spring-loaded recessed case handles

I bought 2 spring-loaded recessed roadcase handles for a custom aluminum enclosure I'm building for a 12v fridge in my Rover (more to come on that in my build thread!). In the end, I decided my enclosure doesn't need handles, so the pair is up for sale. They can handle some serious weight...

Discovery 300 TDi (new to me)!

Wow, what a great find, TexasTJ. Not sure how I missed this thread till now. Looks like the truck is in nice shape, no apparent rust, and with some nice mods to boot! And it's an SD with manual seats and without leaky sunroofs! I like where this is going. Glad you have an EGT on your to-do...

Agreed! I have yet to be truly stranded. Several brief interruptions to my travels, but no showstoppers!

Never a dull moment in a Disco! Good to hear none of the minor inconveniences were trip stoppers.
