    comfy sleeping in a pop-top

That's pretty cool. I suspect they wouldn't fit with the foam in the 3" the flippac gives you. I just pulled out the six year old foam and bought a couple of nice Exped 3" sleeping pads. I cut about 5" of foam from the old mattress to get them to fit tightly enough for no gap in between. They...

    Nissan Titan/FRP Flippac Build

I worked with Marty at MWE Racks to design a semi custom bike rack that would fit with my two swing outs. It is super beefy and he built it with more rise than usual as well to give more departure angle. Once extended, it allows the bikes to spin 360 degrees and completely out of the way of...

Replacement Part for Flippac Stabilizing Bar "Hinge"

Thanks for that, I hadn't thought about it that way. I'll have to check out Bass Pro. I thought it was something I needed to buy from them at which point I'd rather risk the fiberglass.

Replacement Part for Flippac Stabilizing Bar "Hinge"

After years of replacing the little plastic tabs on the ends of the stabilizing bars, I finally came up with a metal solution rather than the little plastic tabs. I knew it was a matter of time before the little plastic "hinge" piece on the other end failed. I don't have any spares and I'd...

    Rugged Off-Road Hitch Rack

I seem to remember an Australian hitch mount bike rack that was super heavy duty and designed for off road use. It had a unique design that gave additional ground clearance. They had different models to account for spare tires and up to 4 bikes. Now I can't seem to find that thread or the...

    Bought a Bike

So it's been 25+ years since I've ridden and a few friends talked me into getting back into it. Slightly spur of the moment/found a good deal this weekend and jumped in. I was looking for a lightweight mountain bike for mostly cross country use. I want to eventually ride to work and back which...

    Surplus drawer, cabinet, table system

Those look really cool but at $1600+ new and $1000+ surplus, they seem a pretty unrealistic option. Now if you could roll up on some unsuspecting surplus store and walk out with one for $100 you'd have something. It seems doubtful though.

The Mentality of heavy bulky gear...

Convenience. I have a fridge, stove, propane tank and cabinet that all weigh more than a titanium pot. But they don't weigh too much for my truck to handle. I work a lot of hours and when I want to get away, I want to get away fast and easy. My truck is loaded all the time and all I have to do...

    Surplus drawer, cabinet, table system

That's the model I have and I can attest to the weight. The thing is not light but it is super cool. The tables, when set up, are actually the same height as the cabinet designed to be one continuous table surface about 8 feet long. I suspect the model with the drawers is 100lbs.

    Post up your drawer/storage system

Or worse, both tables deployed (each end is a separate table). I can get it all back together in 2-3 minutes. They just fold up and the ratchet straps end up holding them in place fairly well, with the seals actually helping a bit.

    Post up your drawer/storage system

I got it at an Army Surplus store in Apple Valley, CA. I made the slide myself.

    Post up your drawer/storage system

Not exactly a "drawer", it's a surplus medical cabinet on a 100% drawer slide. Three shelves keep everything nice and accessible and the ends come off and are tables.

    Nissan Titan/FRP Flippac Build

Shruk has been down for a while now. I pulled everything out and the shell off. Then I removed the drop in bedliner and had the bed sprayed with Rhino lining. Now I can bolt directly to the bed more easily. I installed LED lights from Adventure Trailers (see above cabinet in the first pic). It...

Drilling into a Flippac: How far?

Take a look at the pics in this post: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/52625-Nissan-Titan-FRP-Flippac-Build?p=803054#post803054 I put one in the middle (pic 2) after guessing at where the 2x2 was in the shell. If you want them on the corners only, just take one screw out of each of...

The official Abenteuer and AllRad show in Bad Kissengen, Ger.- Overland largest show!

Amazing, isn't it? I haven't been in this game long enough to understand why we don't have more of this in the US. Maybe with the growth in this market we'll start seeing some of these options here.

    Awning questions

I had one made by a sail maker, see here: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/52625-Nissan-Titan-FRP-Flippac-Build?p=836985#post836985 And Tacodoc used the same vendor improving on my design here...

    Flippac Windows

For me the windows in the shell are in the way. I never open them. Without them, I could make better use of the space by having additional attachment points for stuff. I could see some usefulness to windoors and may have considered them if it was an option at the time.

    Doc's AT FlipPac Build Thread

Glad that worked out for you. I was really impressed with them too. I saw you went four-sided, good move. That'll block the "view" from under the truck that my girls seem a bit disturbed by. I have a new project in the works for my rig. I took everything out/off my truck to have it bedlined...

    Engo Winches now at OutdoorLogic

Would you recommend this one over the one I sent you a couple of weeks ago? I haven't ordered that one yet, so if this is a better option, let's get my truck scheduled for your shop. -Doug
