Have you had any issues with this setup? I've been thinking of the same for stability/strength of the subframe and thus the box. It seems hardly ever done though... why?

Are your wheels inboard of the subframe in the rear? I can't see your pics from 9/12/22 showing the box mounted which probably answer my question.

Yeah the're not large by modern vehicle standards, although the 2nd gen which came out in the early 80s did have a wider track, bigger tyres, disc brakes, etc. Heck, my 20 something year-old cabover 5.5ton truck looks small next to even a new Landcruiser.
