    building the Bullet XV

couldn't get them in the last post (& yes, I made a full scale model of them!) I could probably assemble all the card board mock-ups I've made so far, & have a second Bullet XV!

O.K. I lied, I just couldn't bring myself to do the last two dressers without any curves! the drawer fronts will follow the curving rails (hey, I'm just continuing a theme already started) The dresser on the left is on RV drawer glides, sliding out when needed, & out of the way when not needed...

    New shop.... Next project!!

the new roof is a brilliant solution to the inherent problem in all ambulance conversions, & i'm glad to see you aren't afraid of curves

I'm about winding down on all the curvy parts, until drawers & doors. had another blast yesterday, cutting, scribing, fitting (usually re-cutting) again. the dressers are next,(those will be straight - complicated but straight) off to portland this weekend (yup, in the FWC) WWW.bulletxv.wordpress.com

Well, the curves have taken on a life of their own! Sometimes I feel like I'm an employee of the camper I'm creating, having a blast with wood though, the people around the shop complex that I'm renting have started calling me the woodworking guy, I guess that's a compliment, because I am...

    UNICAT lift up roof ?

well, I certainly don't know what Unicat uses, but I do know what I did to get a 300 lb roof to lift, with all four cylinders moving at exactly the same speed, up & down, as well as a linear track system that works, well out of level. I can't say i looked for the cheapest system, but to be...

    EarthRoamer XV-JP "Northwest Edition"

how well do the pneumatic struts 'stay' up after initial lift? or do you have to provide some mechanical holding up? or down while driving? i've always thought the jp interiors seemed like the human was the last ingredient thought of, but it is a great concept, you've just taken it to a great...

    Spotted: Big Willy 6x6!!

it is tall, but it does look bottom heavy tell me, on these 6x6's, can you disengage one of the rear axles for better road handling?

    Spotted: Big Willy 6x6!!

this guy definitely eats red meat! one of the meanest, best looking xped vehicles i've seen, i really like the wood on the sides - for open air storage, i wonder if they do anything else? (sandladders)

    EarthRoamer Suspension, getting it done!

how often do you encounter, on dirt & back roads, bridges you can't pass? obviously this one at 6000# is far too light for your 18'000# vehicle, I haven't seen any bridges rated that low yet, but I have seen 5 & 6 ton limits every so often? thanks steve

The thought has occurred to me For my use, I thought that one spare was enough (I did think about this years ago when I started) As far as putting the fuel cans below, you can see from the picture that there's no room. The back wall panel is 48 3/4" tall. The spare is a 35" tire, the spare...

    building the Bullet XV

Cabinets finally!, i'm being anally methodic to try to prethink everything i can the first time, but i do have the ability to revise things,as i'm making everything in a manor that can be taken apart, as the entire interior will come out to install the teak veneer (yup, i'm back to teak) this...

The TARDIS - A Four Wheel Camper Build

You are pretty true about storage, I've had a FWC for 10 years now, & storage is the issue, i solved a good portion of it by getting a newer truck with an extended cab for dog stuff & gear (plus a place for the dogs to travel) & since you haven't got the truck yet, you have that option. dry food...

    building the Bullet XV

yeah I could! here's a couple more pictures taken back when the pivot frame was being built, showing just how much frame flex it can accommodate, sitting on flat ground & with the passenger rear tire lifted about 14" do you know how hard it is to train a truck to pee like a dog!

    building the Bullet XV

no, actually chrismc, (& i know you're joking) the bumper is mounted to the frame of the truck, the box is on my pivot frame, floating free of the truck frame, & my driveway has a pretty extreme twist to it, so what you're seeing is actually my box staying true with the cab of the truck, & the...

    building the Bullet XV

those two pulley bars unscrew (they're just galvanized pipe with a poly sleeve that can spin around them, threaded into 5" deep recievers) & i'll make two shorter ones that thread in, & have a bend in them to be a mountain bike rack when needed.
