    3D printing camper components

ok, given the material limitations on cheap DIY printers it sounds like i'll be better off sticking with traditional things like cast resin/fibreglass/linen and maybe invest in a cheap cross-feed table on the pillar drill to allow me to trim things down and occasionally work with...

    Permanent or temporary shower?

During the day when driving use the shower space as hanging clothes storage in a couple of large garment bags, outdoor seating, extra awning etc storage in easy to handle bags. Once you park up you are either using it outside anyway, or store it in the driving seat wells, and hang the garment...

Positional: Simple GPS App w/ Coords, Elevation, Speed, Bearing

Just found this for the first time, installed and working with no issues and shows me everything I want to know quickly and cleanly. Love it - I shall look forward to posting from the equator in Ecuador on the equinox in a couple of weeks :-)

2018 12 Volt Air Conditioning Systems

has anyone come up with a way of neatly mounting domestic split units on a small truck camper, eg both units flat on the roof/ceiling? can the external compressor/condenser be flat mounted? they do seem to offer so much more capacity for much less money than things like the Dometic roof mounts....

2up light dirt bike recommendation wanted.

Suzuki drz 400 - big enough seat for 2 and comfortable. KTMs for dirt aren't designed for 2 and are famously uncomfortable saddles. I've owned both and the Suzi is definitely the better bike for your reference....

    3D printing camper components

Might be a case of prototype the designs on a cheap printer then outsource the final version to something with more choice of materials....

    3D printing camper components

Anyone done any 3D printing of camper components and have any lessons learnt or tips to share? I'm thinking of things like switch mountings, swivel fasteners/restraints. even up to roof fan ducts, extendable towing mirrors, fold down washbasin and custom window frames. Given the price of so many...

    CUV / Crossover with 4Lo

what on earth were you doing with it? I get 23 out of my 2009 and I am not light footed. And that's to a US short measure gallon, not a proper imperial one....

I've asked this in the past but with new members and all, do any of you drive stock rigs?

Stock. I consider myself an overland traveller rather than an off-roader. 45,000 km in a year around Oz in a stock Nissan Navara D22 towing a 5th wheel, with plenty of side trips leaving the van in a campground, and the most technical I ever needed to get was dropping tyre pressures on beaches...

Custom truck camper, let's talk materials

If you need to keep that much heat in have you thought about a heat exchanger? I've fitted a couple domestically which would probably be too large for a camper, but you might find something you can cut down or bodge. Basically they are a stack of conductive plates where hot air being sucked out...

    Extending vehicle aircon

Might be feasible if I get a truck with an opening in the rear window, but I don't think i've ever seen one of those in Europe. And it would mean trying to chill the whole cab and camper space, especially in the evenings..... Demount/disconnect for round Africa would be very occasional so maybe...

    Extending vehicle aircon

yup. i've seen a load of insulated delivery boxes on the backs of nissan frontier pickups around Mexico over the past few months travelling where they have the evaporator matrix and blower mounted above the cab and pipes going up to it . That is what gave me the idea.....

    Extending vehicle aircon

Problem with that is weight and space. I'm building for a lightweight pickup (Navara. Ranger) so every kilo counts, and i'm not sure how I would get on finding locations to mount a second compressor and condenser matrix. Eventually I'll be using it around europe on proper campgrounds with power...

    Extending vehicle aircon

well I guess without the thermostatic control it would just run full blast, which given the size of the camper living space while driving would probably not be a bad thing, and evenings you could just run it until you think it is cold enough and then shut the engine off. The dash on-off switch...

    Extending vehicle aircon

Starting a new thread away from the questions about extending vehicle heat/coolant circuit to the camper.... Could you extend the vehicle cab air conditioning to the camper space? I'm thinking could you take a dash aircon matrix (evaporator) and blower fan from a scrap vehicle, fit it into the...

Diesel or Induction or propane cook top

Well you could fry an egg on battery/inverter. but who eats just an egg? First you have to fry the bacon. And the sausages and black pudding. And the mushrooms and tomatoes. And the fried bread. And boil the kettle to make the tea......us Brits may not have given the world a great deal of...

Diesel or Induction or propane cook top

We carried a cheap stand alone single induction hob in our RV for when we were on shore power - think it was about 60 bucks from Target. Very fast, very light, would have one again. We liked that we could carry it outside and cook outdoors when doing something smelly like fish, or sitting out...

Demountable tied into vehicle coolant system

Exactly - like to see if anyone knows about the refrigerant gas and compatible connectors here, and i'll start another thread on it one day when I'm ready to try it - its just a back of the mind thing for now

Demountable tied into vehicle coolant system

Personally i'm more interested in whether you could use them to plumb a delivery van type cooler matrix into the vehicle air conditioning circuit so you can cool the camper as you drive, or even run the engine in the evening while parked to cool your sleeping accommodation for a short time...
