Bear Grylls is new LR global ambassador

I've had respect for Bear Grylls ever since I found out that not only had he done all those things, but did them after he had broken his back in a military parachute jump, and had to learn how to walk again after years of physical therapy.

A family camping trip in a series 1

I vote Royal Enfield considering your heading into Pakistan/India. I've had a similar trip in mind for a long time, in my Rangie, or maybe in a diesel 88 Series II. I'm a proponent of the ultra light approach as well. My fiancée broke up with me when I suggested taking such a trip so I'm envious...

1995 RRC Rear Lift Gate issues

The catches for the latches can also be adjusted up and down and in and out if you loosen the two screws holding them to the vehicle.

1995 RRC Rear Lift Gate issues

You probably just need to adjust one or more latches. These are operated via rods running from the center handle latch out to each side. You can access the threaded adjustment in them by removing the cover plates on the inside lower edge of the tailgate and then using a 1/4 wrench to adjust the...

Set of (5) Land Rover steels and Firestone Destination M/T's

Selling a nearly new set of (5) Land Rover genuine steels wheels (tubeless) mounted with 215/85R16 Firestone Destination M/T's. Have less than 200 miles on 4 of them and 0 on the fifth. Used at the Midwest Land Rover Rally this year so they show off road use including a few lugs chewed up by...

    General reliability question

Since you like Land Cruisers and want something seldom seen, import a nice clean 70 series cruiser, if you can find a 25 year old one that hasn't been beaten on.

    General reliability question

If you're looking for Land Cruiser reliability in a Land Rover anything, then you will be disappointed. Countless Land Rovers go to 150-200,000+ miles but it takes work, commitment and dollars to get there. However, those who drive Land Rovers consistently over years will tell you it is worth...

Looking at Discovery 2's...what should I be prepared for??

You've got your facts wrong I'm afraid. Roverandom is right and if you'll notice he is Canadian. Also, by the way, swapping a Land Rover diesel into a Discovery or Range Rover is not EPA approved under U.S. regulations. You can get states to pass them, but they will still be non-compliant in the...

    Range Rover Classic

Exactly. I love that quirky dash, and my AC even blows 40 degrees too! I went a step further and bought one with the exposed door hinges (early '89). Now if I could just find a decker panel and hood with exposed hinges. . . David

    Importing 1994-95 Land Rover 90

I believe you can import the vehicle in but it has to be brought up to legal spec by a licensed agent within a certain amount of time or used only for off-road or show purposes.

    CLASSIC MOTOR....

I know there are a lot of conflicting opinions on this, but if you're talking 4.6 engines, then the '03 and '04 blocks have had by far the most trouble as far as I have seen. Some of those have been blowing with cracked blocks at 25K miles or less, not to mention the oil pump problems on the...

    CLASSIC MOTOR....

The later cross-bolted long blocks (4.0 and 4.6) can be used in an earlier vehicle if you swap over everything else from the old engine to the new. Also, you will have to add a spacer between the crankshaft bolt and the balancer since the later cranks are longer. This is easily accomplished by...

    CLASSIC MOTOR....

I just installed a 4.6 long block in my 89 Range Rover. I'm also planning on doing some towing in the future and if you're going to the trouble I would highly recommend it. The difference in power and overall drivability is well worth it.
