    Stiffening An Expedition Camper Frame

Your system of the centerline rear is interesting and definitely something I would consider... please go drive 200k miles and report back so I can have some more data on it :) Jokes aside, my interior will place a large water tank on the back corner so I'm not sure how I feel about mounting...

    Stiffening An Expedition Camper Frame

It was my dream too! Until I found one for sale and impulsively bought it, so now I have to build the thing! I'll start a build thread soon. To answer your question the reason for spring, theres quite a few: 1.) There is a lot of sentiment on the forum regarding the complexities of pivot vs...

    Stiffening An Expedition Camper Frame

Absolutely a good point. If anyone you've built a box for on the e350 wants to chat about their mounting design I'd love to :)

    Stiffening An Expedition Camper Frame

Really appreciate all of the informative information here. I think bus bodies/ambulances are out of the equation as a resource since they're built very different and for much different use cases than a camper. @rruff The energy suspension mounts you used, but with increasing spring travel...

    Stiffening An Expedition Camper Frame

Interesting enough I was reading the ford body builder guide today and came across the fact that the stock body mounts allow for 3/4in of movement, which is quite a lot for no spring.

    Stiffening An Expedition Camper Frame

Hey Geoff, thanks for the response. Yep, I’ve been all over that thread but a lot of the discussion wasn’t super helpful. However, seeing the 4in vertical displacement on the frame is concrete proof that resisting this flex is crucial. Per @Victorian recommendation and after looking at...

    Stiffening An Expedition Camper Frame

Trying to get some opinion on stiffening the frame of an expedition camper, which I get the impression many on this forum think is a bad idea. For reference, this is for a relatively short wheelbase E350. The plan is to have the cab rigidly mounted to the habitat, with springs of varying rate...

Mounting a composite camper box on 4x4 E350 chassis

e350 is preferred because of short wheelbase + shorter overall length (for same size habitat) due to hood design (~25in). I don't think payload is remotely a concern with a well thought out build. Finished height I agree is too tall imo to be standing height for me (6'6), which is why I'm...

Mounting a composite camper box on 4x4 E350 chassis

Thanks for letting me know. I hope they share as I'd love to see their builds!

E-350 Cutaway with Total Composites Box

Thank you for all of the detail, clearly a well thought out build. On a side note, where are you getting all of these illustrations from? I would love a link.

Mounting a composite camper box on 4x4 E350 chassis

Reviving this thread since theres was a lot of talk about people wanting to build composite bodies on e350 campers, but from what I can tell @CalgaryMcLean is the only one to go through with it. Are there other examples, or did people change their mind? I am in the planning stages of my build...

E-350 Cutaway with Total Composites Box

Is this for just the Total Composite Box, or including the subframe? Did you consider/do you know if there is room for the fuel tank where the tank usually goes in the passenger vans (further up on drivers side)? It's hard to tell from photos but seems the tank hangs pretty low. I also see you...

James Baroud roof tent rattling against roof rack -- any advice?

Did you ever end up find a solution that works? I’ve tried a few things (rubber, heavy duty felt) but nothing seems to really help. It’s either too soft and the tent goes right through it, or too firm and it just rattles against it.
