Did you happen to take any detail pics of how your rear cab panel is attached or what is behind it? I would love to know more about this cabinet. I was looking at the rear seat panel recently and wondering whether I could construct a replacement that allowed for more storage behind the seats...
The "no-slide in camper" disclaimer has been in half-tons for years so I'm not sure why people are surprised to see it in a midsize...

Sweet Tundra(s). I'm curious to see what you come up with for the driver's seat. I love the armrest but I do feel like it lacks adequate lumbar support compared to my previous trucks.

Will this be a daily or just a toy? Squeezing in truck maintenance with three small kids can get difficult, so I would lean towards a newer and lower mileage rig for that scenario. If it's a toy and you can afford some more downtime maybe it's a different story.
I loved the awesomeness of my...
Yeah, lots of variables as far as what you are towing, driving style, and terrain. I think we're straying from the original topic anyway.
The OP originally asked about a Tacoma vs. Tundra for a balance between capability and towing.
The general consensus seems to be that any half-ton or...
Not at all. The 5.7L Tundras get the worst mileage of the current half ton market but several mpg better than a Power Wagon...

I'm amazed you even tolerate towing with an 80! Loved my 80 but it was miserable to pull a trailer with. Unless you're going wheeling, a half-ton truck seems like the better option. More room for you and your passengers while getting the same or better fuel mileage on your trips.
Big enough to...
New door speakers are money well spent in Cruisers.
It's amazing how much nicer the drive is with some good tunes!
Sewing the wheel in place, eh? Brave soul!

IIRC their fee to install was $150, plus the cost of shipping your wheel back and forth. That is a pretty reasonable fee considering the time involved. Definitely worth the investment if you're planning to keep your 80 around for a while.

Curiosity got the best of me so I ran the Carfax. I'd be happy to e-mail a copy to potential buyers.
Truck spent the vast majority of it's life in the Atlanta area, no wrecks reported.
I also ran the service records on Toyota's website. Not much there other than an additional eplacement a/c...
Thanks for the photos and write-up! Canada sure is pretty.
Do you have a thread anywhere with details on your 80? Looks like a really nice one

There is a single cat installed, you can probably make it out in some of the undercarriage shots being protected by the passenger side slider. There is no CEL on.
I've never run a Carfax on it, figured it was of minimal help on vehicles from the 90's. The VIN is JT3HJ85J2T0127275 if you'd like...
Not a bad suggestion since the exterior dimensions will be very similar to the first gen Tundra you sold. It won't tow as nice as a 5.7L Tundra but the unloaded miles should see a mileage increase.
If you go full-size I'd go 5.7L. Better resale value down the road, the mileage hit is...
