Thanks for that, it should get a lot better once I move onto the next stages.
Thanks for the good words.
Man, you are a...
^ Thanks, but don't let the pictures fool you, this thing is definitely built in a garage.
Bear with my limited experience, may be best to google this for some actual expert opinions - but, my thought process was duplicate the stock distancing and I would get the stock shackle angles, but...
Thanks for the good words guys, no issues with fires here yet.
Some days you move forward on a project and some days you get kicked in the nuts.
This am leaving for work I noticed this small puddle, initially thinking break fluid only to be disappointed and find its gear oil. Looks like I...
^Definitely still a guppy! guppy approved hahaha
Sounds like a super fun trip, salmon glacier has been on my list since destination adventures trip up that way. Enjoy it.
Bled the brakes and got it idling for the first time in months.
Had to drop the tires to get it out of the garage,
May...
Big driveshaft day,
Started disassembling the old f350 2-piece to get an idea of how I want to package a new 2 piece.
All broke down and I have a plan
On to the front shaft, measuring for length at max droop
Modified this old F350 front shaft to work as an interim solution
Split...
Awesome build, love an old square body. Keep fighting the good fight on the engine woes,
problems like those are less than enjoyable until they are solved.
Started sorting out the front winch,
Where I wanted it to live was in immediate conflict with the trans cooler
A common modification for these trucks is to flip the trans cooler up higher for better air flow. It worked well in this case, I modified the upper mounts so it's secured in 4 places...
Engine & trans, just minor maintenance on those bits. Thanks.
1stDeuce—The ARB bumper is the only one I've seen that I like quite a bit. It looks like it's meant for the bush and not just a sema build. Other than the price point, that one is guppy-approved. Destination adventure is rad, he's...
Thanks guys.
YetiX - that's 100% the plan. Do it the right way now, and it'll be good for a decade of fun.
I went on a mid-week parts run to the coast to collect some loose ends. I randomly ended up at Hot Rod's Restos, and this is one of a half-dozen cars sitting in the shop. What a nice...
Oh man, I wish I could say it felt like I was flying. I'm happy to have some momentum now that I've got parts sorted, but I was hoping to have this thing driving in January...
Thanks, I'm pretty stoked on the stance. It should be a good balance of stability but not stupid wide that it's...
Another day, some more forward momentum
Started mocking up the rear to see what wasn't going to work.
The second bed mount fell directly in the line with my new front leaf hanger
Fixed* need to modify these hangers a touch but they should work nicely
Same on the driver's side, and mocking...
^ Still a stupid amount of money at half off haha
todays effort:
Probably dropped a couple hundred pounds of dirt weight from this truck so far
Sold - another $250 in the piggy bank
New 5/8" u- bolts for the rear
2015 1/2 ton washer reservoir to make these 40's fit
before
after...
Maggie, WFO concepts/transfer case express sells a NP 271 or 273. It's a super duty case, so you'll need new front and rear driveshafts. 271 is the manual selection and 273 is push button.
This upgrade gets rid of the 263 that's prone to pump rub failures and is much stronger all around. Thank...
LOL at the power fist follow up - Canadian Inuendo's.
This one is super nice, and it's definitely a great tool to own if you don't have a hoist.
Man, this sums it up perfectly, and I learn the hard way...
Next up was trans service,
273 installed finally.
This thing takes a lot more space...
yamaha225 - Thanks, always great to hear.
Jeffer949 -Beautiful sales pitch, I will 100% use that. Thank you.
Quick update, not as much progress as I was hoping for but crossing a few things off the list.
Got the driver side frame completely cleaned up and started stitch welding the frame...
^ Here's hoping it's up there.
There are a quite a few really bad *ss wfo trucks floating around.
Started back on the dirt job of prepping the rails again.
It doesn't look like much but that was easily 3 hours of effort.
Took my time and stitch welded the plate in to place
Shock tower...
Yup, no plans to get rid of it. Playing with the idea of flat towing it behind this truck. It will likely still be our hunting rig for the tight trails and tough-to-get areas, and this will be our home base.
No kidding haha, they'll look well used after a hunting season.
A bit more progress...
^ thanks, hopefully this lives up to the expectation
Quick evening update: These inner knuckle dust seals are an absolute pain to deal with.
one axle fully assembled, one more to finish up.
