    My FGB71 build

That LSD looks like a good bet – once the build is finished and if under budget, I’ll run it past my financial advisor (‘er indoors). I’ll have to enquire with Quaife that it is compatible with the Euro diff (4.8 rather than the Oz 5.2) – hopefully the housing and cage is the same, and it’s...

    My FGB71 build

I could waffle on here, but the video in the link below has all the info contained. The project has been a slow burner up to now, but it will pick up momentum from here on. Hopefully you find it interesting/entertaining?

FGB71 transfer case actuator light not lit

I had the same issue with my FGB71- both vacuum and actuator were dodgy due to the truck sitting before I bought it. Bought a length of silicone vacuum hose and replaced all the vacuum lines, and greased the pivot arm joints between the actuator and the transfer case engaging rod.

UK V5C HGV body type change to motorcaravan 2020

Has anyone changed their HGV body type to 'motor-caravan' this year, given the new requirements and the usual DVLA hoops and hurdles? My Fuso Canter 4x4 6.5t is currently having a camper box built on the chassis, but at the moment the V5C body type is noted as 'drop-side body'. Reading the info...

    Diesel or induction cooktop?

My previous build had propane for cooking, but i was never enamoured with the idea for various reasons. Also, the hot water heating was diesel, the cooktop was the only appliance using gas. So, for my current build I thought I'd go for a Webasto diesel cooktop, or induction. The hot water will...

    Thermo Top heat circuit

I have found a replacement pcb for the Evo-5 that is non-canbus and 12v switching, so that issue is sorted. I would like to install the heater in one of the underbody alloy lockers (that are attached to the underneath of the subframe) - what issues might crop up? - heatstroke? The air intake...

    Thermo Top heat circuit

@SkiFreak When i bought my previous (refurbed) Webasto, it came with a full loom with the chinese timer already joined in. I vaguely remember using your wiring article to cut out the excess from the loom!

    Thermo Top heat circuit

@gait (y) We live in Scotland which is not the warmest, and given the coronavirus borders loosening up, Europe can be just as chilly if you travel in the wrong direction. My previous one had one of those cheap chinese timers, but I always used the manual mode as I couldn't fathom the...

    Thermo Top heat circuit

I had used a Surecal 22l calorifier in the first build and was happy with the quality, so am using their vertical 30l this times - thinking on it, for the extra £25, I should get the twin-coil model for the engine hook-up. I read somewhere on here, someone said the system should be a higher kw...

    Thermo Top heat circuit

I have the opportunity to buy a new Thermo Top Evo-5 at a cracker price, but it is a specific one for a VW/Audi. I read somewhere that they only run for an hour then shut down. The refurbished ‘C’ in my previous build (LT35) may have been the same but I only ran it for the 20mins to heat the...

    Thermo Top heat circuit

So, I shouldn't bypass the header tank too - ie. keep that flowing through fulltime? I did have it fulltime flowing on the previous build, but it seemed a waste of heat.

    Thermo Top heat circuit

Temp gauge on the callorifier outlet is a good idea. With our previous camper, I knew it took about 15-20 mins to heat the 20l calorifier. This time we're having 30l, so it will take a little longer. Even with the extra radiator lines, the calorifier is the Webasto's first port of call until...

    Thermo Top heat circuit

Hi folks. I'm at the point of installing the heating circuit. In my first camper(van) I had a Thermo Top with a calorifier on the main circuit, and a small fan matrix on an open-tee'd loop. For my current build, I want to expand on that, but still keep it 'basic' so that it's fixable in the...

    FG(B) steering wheel spline

Hi. Does anyone now if the FG(B) shares the same steering wheel spline as say a Pajero/Shogun, or others? I want to add a quick release steering wheel boss to my truck for added security. Thanks.

Adding mechanical low profile suspension to seats ?

I used these mechanical bases under a couple of Corbeau-style sports recliners. They are a Grammer knock-off, but are solidly built. They have three ride heights, but only the lowest works in the Fuso (in relation to the steering wheel), each ride height has 60mm of travel (bounce?)...

    Rim dimensions

I had forgotten to add a pic of the SRW wheels and tyres on the truck, for anyone who's interested. The tyres are 138 load rated, which keeps the GVW at 6500kg, but lowers the rear axle weight to 4500kg. However, there is 2000kg already on the front and 1000kg on the back in cab-chassis state...

    US FG for sale

Found this googling - don't know if it's a current ad, but low miles for a 2000. https://www.truckscorner.co.uk/used/truck/35627418/mitsubishi-fg-n-a.html

    Rim dimensions

My actual tyres being made today - TTS sent me pics of them going through the remould process, they are on Bridgestone M729 cases. They have been a super-nice company to deal with, the same for the tyre shop I'm getting them through, as TTS don't sell direct to the public, only trade and fleet...

    Rim dimensions

Got a reply back from ATW – the price for the rims is bearable, however the shipping, UK-VAT, and customs/import tax makes it too rich for our blood. However, will probably buy their flared fender kit. So we are going with 265/70-17.5 140M on 17.5x6.75 (et90, 12mm mounting plate) custom truck...

I emailed ATW late last year but never got a reply, so started looking locally. I've sent another just now, so I'll wait and see.
