    cracked subframe 2001 quigley E350

It looks like the front subframe of my quigley E350 is cracked on both sides. Not sure when this happened, but It's been a couple of years since I've even use 4-lo. Has this happened to anyone else? Can it be repaired/welded, or do I need to order replacement parts from Quigley?

GOVE Global Overland Vehicle Economical build.

A few thoughts on your electrical and water storage needs. I've got both a sailboat and a 4wd campervan; the following are based on my actual usage: 1) Have you considered going with lithium (LiFePO4) batteries instead of AGM? According to a bunch of folks on cruisersforum the cost of the...

    Snake & Salmon Rivers, Idaho

I've done all 3 in a cataraft and an inflatable kayak. The snake and main are more non-technical big water rivers, while the middle fork is extremely technical. I used to solo canoe (up to class III) and couldn't imagine running a tandem canoe down the middle fork at any flow. I'm sure it's...

    Cheap Fridge <$400 shipped

answers: 1) No. The fridge compressor cycles on and off via a thermostat to maintain temperature. The 4.7 amps mentioned above is what it draws while the compressor is running. The inside/outsode temperatures just affect how much of the time the fridge is running (AKA duty-cycle). When you...

    Cheap Fridge <$400 shipped

The power on spike is less than 10 amps, but it's for such a short period of time (less than a second) that it doesn't affect your energy useage requirements. The number to look at is total amp-hours per day, as mentioned in the last post. Based on those numbers a 60 watt panel should be...

Edgestar fridge actual power consumption numbers

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll run the tests again with some thermal mass (AKA a few six packs) inside and see if there's any difference. As far as running the tests on 12V DC, the problem is that I don't have a 12V equivalent of the kill-a-watt meter to measure accumulated watts or...

Edgestar fridge actual power consumption numbers

I picked up a scratch-and-dent edgestar 63 fridge right before the new year, and decided to do a couple of experiments to see what the actual power consumption was. I'm sharing the info here in case anyone else is interested: Testing setup: In order to make the tests repeatable I performed...

Tips for Stealth Overnight Parking and Building a Stealth Vehicle

I was thinking of something similar, something that would make the vehicle unattractive to potential thieves: - George's Guard dog service - Steve's Septic - Kyle's killer bee extermination service - Matt's mobile pet crematory I saw a former ambulance a few year's ago where the new owner had...

Tips for Stealth Overnight Parking and Building a Stealth Vehicle

My stealthcamper is a white ford van (which should be pretty invisible), but it's also got a high top roof, a couple of windowns in the back, and is 4wd, which makes it stand out a bit. I've thought about having a logo or some signs made up that I could put on the sides to make it look more...

MacPro GPS and Garmin 60cxs - Cacheable or downloadable aerials? How do I do it?

You can buy an annual subscription ($30?) to digitalglobe from garmin. Works great on my Garmin Colorado, but I don't know if the 60vxs is supported.

    Igloo Yukon Coolers

I just looked up some prices, and it appears to be in the price range as the yetis, engels, etc. The specs sound a little deceptive, as they mention the thickness of the insulation in the lid and the bottom, but don't spec the insulation thickness in the sides. The yetis have 2" throughout.

Pieces and parts garage sale in Utah

No fixed prices. If you're interested just come by and make an offer. I want this stuff gone (with minimal hassle) more than I want to make a bunch of money off it. Like I said, I'm getting ready to drive south for 3 months, and don't have the time to take picture, research what stuff is...

Custom travel trailer or a Tiny House?

I see a lot of "office trailers" at various government and other auction I go to, and it seems like something like this would be a perfect (cheap!) starting point for your new tiny home. They're already insulated, wired, and often plumbed, with door and windows (and often heat and AC...
