I finally decided to get myself a Handle-All to replace my little Army Surplus folding shovel.
I was disappointed to realize that the Handle-All comes with its own handle!
I had somehow imagined I would be able use the handle from my Hi Lift Jack which I already have in my vehicle, anyway...
When I get my replacement circuit board, I will think about how I might measure the max current (without damaging it again). But that could be a bad idea.
My suspicion is that I shorted the "lighting" wire that powers the LED lights on the switches, and maybe (maybe!?!) only that wire carries a...
Yeah, I'm not super confident about the reliability of this thing, and I really like reliability. At least mine has no touch screen. But I don't need to be able to control (or "strobe") my lights via Bluetooth. I might be happier with a bank of six plain old relays.
Getting in contact with sPod...
I was messing around with my door panel where I have an sPOD SourceLT switch panel installed, and I somehow managed to short a switch control wire against the door panel. (The door metal has a nasty jagged cutout for this switch panel.) I didn't notice anything was wrong until my air compressor...
Great video, with some stunning camping locations!
But what's most interesting to me, in my endless internal debate of truck vs. van, is the view while camping out the kitchen window and narrow door:
Thanks for all the interest...!
A common question is: has this van been in an accident, or rolled? No. The cracks you see are from years of shaking and body flex from backroad and offroad use. The side cracks at the top of the window were caused by the shaking of an awning that used to be...
Thanks for letting me know you like my trip reports! I'm inspired to keep doing them.
Why am I selling this van? I recently bought a replacement van -- a "new" 2005 4x4 Sportsmobile. No plans to stop adventuring!
Well, I don't actually think it's ugly. But it certainly isn't pretty!
This van has been used for its intended purpose, with 20 years of offroading adventures in the USA and Mexico. The paint clearcoat is scuffed with brushmarks. The body has some dents and a few significant cracks. Underneath...
Seconded! I used those clip-lock chucks for years, and they were frustrating. Screw-on is much less stress.
I also improved the ergonomics / finger-feel of the above screw-on chucks by wrapping them several times with some self-fusing 3M Scotch Rubber Splicing Tape. The larger diameter and...
I don't see which engine this van has, but I do see the 5-gallon diesel tank listed, so I presume it's the 6.0 diesel (but some people use tanks like that for their diesel furnace.)
