Wasn't impressed by them on my parents '14 Grand Cherokee. In the snow, stability seemed fine but braking was worse than I expected. A lot of the time they sent ABS into a frenzy, and would fill the voids with snow while skidding all over the place. They also packed themselves full of snow...
I believe the guys on Z71Tahoe-Suburban and also on the Avalanche forum recommend Bilstein 5100s. I know there's sway bars out there but the company name is slipping my mind, I'm sure with some quick research on the CAFCNA you can dig up what brand it is...
Love the build so far! Contemplating a 4R myself, always nice to see one similar to the route I'd go.

Nice truck! Is that the OEM tent? Glad to see an Avalanche being used as it should, done any wheeling with it?
I had an Avalanche that I still regret getting rid of...luckily it's still in the family so there's always a chance of buying it back. My old truck (leveled with 285/70/17 Toyo AT2s):
^^ agreed on CAFCNA, when I had my Avalanche (7 years of ownership) that site was incredibly helpful and saved me tons over the years.
Z71Tahoe-Suburban.com is a good resource as well for GMT800/900 trucks...might find some useful info on there as well
That's exactly what I'm thinking (& hoping!) Diesel, King suspension, Duratracs, hidden winch, lockers, etc...could be a hell of a package (perhaps a baby Power Wagon?)
I'm going to throw out there the idea of the tarp-covered pickup being a more off-road friendly version of the Colorado, or something similar. The Trail Boss comes from the factory with Duratracs, and those definitely look like they could be GM wheels, so perhaps they're testing the ZR2 they...
