Leg 2: San Diego to Moab via Yosemite, Mammoth, Escalante and more
Craig and Kat here (Craig writing this time). We're back! After a quick detour to Rio, I returned to San Diego to put a few last touches on the burb before heading North again.
Leg 2: Late August to Mid September, 2016...
Thanks! It has been working well for us. Check out the build thread for a little bit more on the shelves. We also are working on a short video tour of the truck where there will be a closer look at the storage.
Hi everyone! We are Kat and Craig traveling in our 2002 4x4 Z71 Suburban, named Hooper. It's a poor man's Sportsmobile! Build thread HERE! The build thread says his name is Aberdeen, but after only a few weeks of owning him, we changed the name to Hooper. Craig just retired from his...
Sorry for the late response, I would recommend cutting the reflectix slightly longer and taller than you would expect...maybe an inch or so so it will fit without the tape/velcro. The velcro we have sucks, its way stronger than the adhesive so it ends up tearing the whole thing off when you...

So comfy. Better than a futon for sure. They tri fold too, and we actually have the sleeping platform in 3 pieces so we can prop up the...
Photostudio on wheels
We wanted a 4x4 van, but didn't have the budget for it so we made our suburban as comfy as we could. We are currently a month into a year-plus long adventure from Baja to the Arctic circle in Alaska. The girlfriend is a professional photographer, so lots of pics on the...
Removing the trim panel was key. Would have removed the passenger side trim too if it didn't house the read AC. Permanent deletion of the second row was a tough call... But we are really glad we did it! After all we will be living in this thing for a year. After this 3 week trip it was well...

I was planning on a bunch of pictures but nevermind here comes the finished product.
So it's been a while since the last update, and a whole lot has happened. Have not had time to post with...
Another Question
Thanks again everyone!
One last question, I know I have already been advised to install additional 12v sockets that are wired into the house battery and solar rather than get an inverter, do most people agree with this? I am sure I can find 12v chargers for our laptops and I...
In some of the canyons its snow runoff soooo it can get pretty chilly. But the one pictured above rain runoff so around 45-50 degrees. You can't have too much neoprene!
Thanks! Will check it out. Winch is a possibility, but we are nearing the budget and we still have the sleeping platform...
ZION!!!
Went to Zion for the week. Had a few objectives. See Crawford Arch, a rarely visited arch in Zion that requires some climbing/canyoneering to access....
Run rock canyon, a remote canyon requiring a hour of driving through soft sand.
Bike Gooseberry Mesa!
Truck pics are on...
