Most of the modern trucks(mine included) have a 5.75 ratio which works well with 35 or 37 inch tires.
I have run BFG Comp AT 's which were not round from the beginning and vibrated horribly. Then ran a set of pro-comp A/T which worked well enough but were a little squirmy at high speed in...
Do yourself a favor and get all terrain tires. The military humvee tires are likely already well past their usable life time-wise. Current consensus is to replace tires every six years regardless of tread wear. They are also horribly heavy(much like the gladiators mentioned above) which will...
We love our 2000 FG Short wheelbase. Incredibly maneuverable, very similar in performance both freeway speed and fuel economy to newer models that we have travelled with extensively. It has been absolutely reliable. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

WoW! Pretty serious accident sounds like. Glad you were ok. Would like to see more pics of the damage.
I will second the "systematic" approach and reiterate the need to get some giant pliers and check all of your steering linkages.
Allan
Get some giant pliers. Squeeze together all the ball joints in the steering system. If any of them squeeze together at all replace them. Then take it to a proper medium duty alignment shop whether you find play or not. Tell them what is going on.
As a side note, this is not at all normal...
I regularly use Fido to tow a race car on a trailer to the local race track. Total weight 4500 lbs. It rides/handles/drives incredibly well. In fact it is probably the nicest towing vehicle I have ever driven. I can achieve 70 plus mph on the flats. That having been said, on any uphill...
I recommend replacing the stock tank with a freightliner aluminum 50 gallon tank and ditching the second tank. It takes the same amount of frame space as the stock tank.

I will second Howards comments on Timbrens. Very important. I built my custom leaves 1" longer than stock and had them add arch to correct. I also added about 3 degrees of extra castor for straight line stability.
As far as helping with stock specs, they vary by year of truck.........

I would stick to an RV style window. They can be purchased in fairly large sizes. The rounded corners help prevent breakage as of course does the tempered glass. I purchased mine quite reasonably on eBay from overstock sellers.
Allan
I reached out to them about getting a diesel model. Their response was:
"Thanks for reaching out. Until Isuzu puts a diesel with adequate hp we will stick with the gas engine."
Strange. I don't really care about hp in a big truck. What I do care about is Torque, and Fuel Economy both of...
Yeah.... You can see the whole thing clearly from the top and bottom so the deal is you stop and have a really good look regardless of which way you are going to make sure no is coming. Uphill traffic always has the right of way. There are only two or three spots where there are turnouts...
Great points Peter. Weight reduction both rotating and unsprung will have a profound effect on performance, efficiency, and ride quality.
Another thing not mentioned yet is that the bigger tire you run, the more strain you are putting on the drivetrain as evidenced with the broken axle in...
The 37's on my truck required minor modifications to make them fit. Had to move the a/c condenser in the right front. Despite having a larger suspension lift than I would like (3"). Gearing for serious off road use will be compromised. Low range with the 37's is on the verge of not low...
