Do a search on discoweb.org for the Greg Davis rear bumper.
Here's a pic: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2562831/2000-land-rover-discovery
go to images.google.com and search for: "Greg Davis" bumper and you'll see a bunch of pics.
I'm not an NCLR member, but I know quite a few of them and other RoverFolk in Northern California. I don't have much to add (I don't get out as much as I'd like) except that I think you'll find these folks to be incredibly caring and helpful. When my dad was alive, he joined us on several...
I've seen things like this mentioned: Amazon.com: Chapin 20000 1-Gallon Lawn and Garden Sprayer: Patio, Lawn & Garden
I don't think you could get away with hot water, but warm would probably be okay.
CB Radios. (or FRS or Ham) We've used them (or rather, the kids have) on trips with friends' families. The kids love yakking back and forth.
As for older teens, how are they going to feel part of the family if they don't get a chance to participate (i.e., drive)? Yeah, they can take...
I read the first two paragraphs and saw this picture and thought that was it. I almost fell off the bed laughing. (with you, not at you; my set up is no better.)
Of course, your final version is pretty sweet.
Thanks for the laugh!
I'm thinking about 2 vehicles as well. My oldest is only 8, but by the time I get my LR 109" restored, he'll be able to drive. 8^( But that way, my wife and I could sleep in the 109", the 2 boys/1 girl could be in RTTs. (We have one on the Disco already.)
The other thing we're more likely...
Here are my thoughts: So, where does all the stuff that was inside there go when you want to go to sleep? Pain in the tuchus to pull it all out and put it somewhere else every night. Or, if you just keep it empty for sleeping, that's an awful lot of wasted space.
The price isn't bad, but...
I apologize for the crappiness of the photos...
I have a Columbus tent (Autohome) on Thule bars. I got the bars extra long -- they were the same price, I think, and I figured the extra length would be good for something. Turns out I was right.
I bought some pieces of 6" wide (I think)...
Y'all are making me feel pretty darn lucky. My wife was helping me lead backpacking trips for the Sierra Club not long after we started going out. And I'm not sure she had ever really camped before. We traveled all over the western US and Canada in my '59 Land Rover back then too -- no air...
Just to clarify, because I think you might be a tad confused... Traditional tent = Simple. Your trailer = complicated.
Not that I'm complaining, mind you.
I dunno... I never got that impression. I read it as "Hey, this is what I'm thinking of doing for my own personal trailer, what do you think?" which was then followed up by "Hey, if you like it, go ahead and copy it; I don't mind. It shouldn't be hard." (for that last bit, however, I call...
This is a good suggestion, but if you can't make that work (i.e., too late), go camping with a couple other families. The kids will have a blast running around together and you don't have to entertain them as much. Just make sure (if you're the nervous type) that at least one parent is keeping...
That matches my list -- or what my list would be if I had thought about it -- except that I need seating and sleeping for 5 (me, the wife, and three kids.)
My personal taste leans towards something like a Westie (like this: http://bonmot.ca/~daniel/gngcamping/?name=DSC04071.JPG) on steroids --...
Dunno if you noticed, but that fridge runs on household power: "Power: 83 watts, 115V, 1.1 amps" It's a standard mini-fridge like you'd get at Sears or Home Depot (albeit minus the compressor.)
Lofty Shelters!
Hey! I got my Columbus from you, back in about 2003. We love it -- the only problem is we outgrew it. Now the wife and I and the baby are in a regular tent and my older two are in the Columbus. (Unless it's just me and one or two kids, of course.)
One thing you were sure...
