I think you are right on point number 2 that the shackles need to allow more twist as you have more flex, but this depends on the length of springs. Longer springs won't need as much twist from the shackles for the same amount of flex. But...

Well, I've spent the past 3 months planning how I'm going to build up my truck, and every time I'm about to buy parts to upgrade it something goes wrong. First it was broken axle seals, then 2 O2 sensors, then time for a timing belt and water pump, not to mention yet another inner CV boot...

I thought I had a solid build plan for mine but after reading your build my head hurt thinking about all of the options.
