    Effects of vacuum on 4wd.

When it cools off some in the next couple of days I will do some more trouble shooting. For now, if I put it on stands, everything works as it should. This only happens when a load is applied to the drivetrain. There are no noises evident whatsoever until then.

    Effects of vacuum on 4wd.

I have just replaced the transfer case. Reluctantly as I know how stout they are. It just made sense that it was the culprit and indeed there seemed to be some damage to it. I know that there is a slide bar on the front differential that is vacuum activated. This is why I asked the question of...

    Monty SR electric fans

To keep my engine compartment a bit cooler, I added a heat louver to the hood in the form of a small tasteful "hood scoop". Cutting the hood made me cringe at first but to me the heat that escapes out of there is a fine trade off.

    I second this notion.

    Effects of vacuum on 4wd.

Upon shifting into any position other than 2wd and applying a "load" upon the drivetrain, there is a noticeable disconnection of the entire drivetrain and a grinding noise. The vehicle doesn't move and grinds until placed in neutral of course. Upon letting everything stop spinning, place into...

    Effects of vacuum on 4wd.

So theoretically if I have manual front locking hubs, I can disengage this system without any ill effects? What could be a cause of a sudden disengagement of the drive train when in any 4wd mode when applied a load to. It is not the transfer case, though this has caused the destruction of one...

    Effects of vacuum on 4wd.

What are the repercussions of not having enough negative pressure(vacuum) on the four wheel drive system? What about a faulty vacuum actuator? Signs/symptoms? Gen 2 of course(95).

Good idea to change the TRANSMISSION fluid. The temperature getting high then dropping and getting high again can be indicative of a few things. Did it get hot when you were stationary? Did the temp lower when you were cruising at highway speeds? Normally this indicates the cooling fan is...

    Monty SR electric fans

Pending how often the fan needs to come on, I think a lot of the amp draw could be on the battery as well. If no one has said it yet, there are many places that will rebuild the alternator to produce more amperage. I will say that it is best to go with a high quality electric fan. Especially if...

No worries about asking questions here. We are here to help, my friend. Most of us have had to acquire bumpers destined for other vehicles and modify/ fabricate a way to mount them on our rigs. Mines is a Logan's winch bumper made for a jeep Cherokee (xj). I know eurosonic got his bullbar off...

    SR locker, looking for advice

Yeah, the diaphragm can only handle up to 5 psi maybe 6 max. You can actually engage the locker by blowing into the air line.... Done it. Lol

Ain't that the truth. Lol. Although lotion does come in handy whilst in the sand box. Believe it or not I was a forward observer on a COLT. The eyes of the brigadier general on the combat zone and beyond. Calling in artillery, air, and naval strikes. I didn't turn any wrenches till I got out...

The actual valve guide seals are different from the valve cover gasket. these are internal and are what let the oil into the combustion chamber thereby producing the smoke. You won't see an oil leak with these rather just the bit of smoke through the tailpipe.

I sure am glad I don't live where the government can dictate what engine I put in my rig. Good luck whatever you do!
