I use lots of different tools to get into all the little cracks and crevices, wire wheels, flap discs, scoth brite wheels, hand sanding, you name it. Once everything is scuffed up, gets a through wipe down with acetone. 2 coats of self etching primer, followed by 3 coats of MRO flat black!
Big update!
You'll be glad to know that the b190 is fixed! New driveshafts from a new shop fixed the vibration. Delivered back to a very anxious customer! Here's some final pics
Pretty proud of my OBA solution. Not a lot of room under these things!
Took sometime to build a little leaf spring...
Looking good, Dave! Just toss in my 2 cents on fuel pick up for the Esbar. Not sure if this applies to diesel or not, but on the gas esbar's I've done on transit's, if you use the factory 6mm pick up in the tank into the 2mm line of the ebsar, it creates major suction problems and easily loosing...
Been a while since an update! The b190 has turned into an absolute nightmare. Has a seemingly un-fixable driveline vibration. Transmission has been gone through twice, 2 different transfer cases, driveshaft rebuilt and rebalanced 3 times, rear diff rebuilt at least 10 times, 3 different ring and...
They are very much touching. Good visual of how far forward our kit pushes the front axle! I had to just get the wheels on it to measure for driveshafts. We cut the bumpers to clear before it leaves.
FINALLY got springs for the b190! Things are looking a little hectic around here.
Slammed it together as fast is I could so I could get driveshaft measurements in before 4PM
This is gonna be a good one
Finally got everything wrapped up on the action vans 2wd lift kit!
Had a take off set of Atlas rear leafs laying around that were a perfect spec for this van, so I threw them in instead of using the block that comes with the kit. We also did a OX locker and 35 spline chromoly shafts. Got a...
Have this '75 volvo c304 in the shop getting rehabbed after a long sit full of fluids. Have a bunch of parts enroute from sweden for it!
Since my van is rendered unless as a van, I have to use the daily as a work truck!
Had this bad boy in the shop Getting cleaned up and pics taken to be...
Little more progress from around the shop> Picked up a old jalopy CAT forklift for a song. Took a little work to get it going, but it does the job!
I bought two of these husky work benches from home depot, one to use as my desk, the other to use in the shop. I wanted to make it modular so I...
Thanks everybody! Still working out the kinks getting everything transitioned over! The outpouring of support has been crazy! Anyways, it's official, welcome to the Ujoint offroad Colorado build thread!
Full steam ahead at the new shop! Had this super clean retired air force v10 van drop off for a 2wd lift, high top and OX locker from california
Knocked out a ESBAR gas heater install and Aluminess bike carrier on a awd transit also
Another AWD transit in for a vancompass lift kit
Fords...
I'm pretty sure its not a fiberine top. It used to be a red cross van, So the install wasn't great (self tapping screws), and it seemed super super thin and flimsy. I'd say 24" is a safe bet on height though.
Alright! On to the build of the new shop! Took me about a week to find a place, but I found a damn near perfect place. Its a little far out in the sticks, but to be honest I kinda like that.
lift going in
Building some stairs to the parts storage over the office
Office pretty much all...
