Wow, thanks so much for doing that legwork for me! Apologies, if I am misunderstanding anything, but just to clarify, I would be planning on using a renogy 100 watt flexible panel (no standard mount points). I’m not quite sure how your design comes together exactly.
What I am thinking is...
Thanks so much everyone for your prompt replies and ideas. Felt lined thin magnets and metal plate idea is interesting! I wonder if that would have any negative impact on the electronics in the solar panel have to check first. I agree modern velcro is probably strong enough but the adhesive...
Does anyone out there have any experience on non-destructively and securely attaching flexible solar panels to a hard shell RTT surface with velcro? I'd like to avoid VHB and anything that would harm the gel coat if possible.
I just picked up a Dometic CFX-65 to replace my trusty ORCA cooler and seem to have run into an issue right out of the gate. It powers up with 120 volt wall plug just fine. However, it does not power up with the 12 volt cigarette plug at all (going into my Renogy Lycan which is functioning...
I know seriously! Never seen the Darche offerings before...sees they are Aussie, per usual, way ahead. You'd think the RTT would make a little more investment in it than they do when you are paying $3k to have a nice place to sleep primarily. It is definitely a cost/weight cutting thing...
I felt similarly about the comfort of the standard mattress in my autohome columbus XL (as well as the eventual mildew from a full winter's use even with the condensation gap material under the mattress). I have arrived at the following solution. I had a big agnes dream island double bag...
I had never heard of the Jeep J8 until this was posted on the main page recently:

Is there any way to buy these in the US market (other than the partial built AEV offering)? The links in the article do not seem to be fresh.
With a 2566lb...
Thanks. I think this is honestly the most practical approach for my needs. I picked up a new Renogy Lycan for $1k which has a 1000 watt/hour LifePO4 and can charge via outlet/car/solar. I think the standard alternator in a new F-150 is 200+ amp/hour so hopefully that will help. I'll look at...
Yes, I'm planning on running everything (except a webasto or espar heater) eventually. Here are my general planned consumption patterns and estimates:
Regular use:
Dometic 50L Fridge (say 0.8 amp/hour at 12 volts)
2 x Maxxair Deluxe Fans operating at 1 or 2 settings (one exhaust, one intake...
Thank you all so much for your feedback! This is extremely helpful to orient myself around the off-the-shelf limitations of the goal zero units. I'm not too interest in spending that much for those kind of limitations. Perhaps, I could describe my intended consumption patterns to avoid over...
I am planning on picking up a Goal Zero Yeti 3000 Lithium unit for my rig, and I think I will need about 400 watts of solar capacity for my needs. Ideally, I am looking for 2 x 200 watt non-proprietary panels that would still be compatible with this Goal Zero unit. If anyone has any...
I'm thinking of buying the Yeti 3000 Lithium and the overpriced proprietary panels are a major turn off. I'm planning on needing 300-400 watts of solar panels on my rig going into the Yeti unit. Does anyone have any recommendations for a pair of 150-200 watt panels that are compatible and...
Wow, I wish I was in the market for something like this at the moment. Amazing setup (and Hell's gate pics?!). Maltec conversions are phenomenal. I talked to Alex recently myself. A little too rich for my blood at the moment, but definitely a proper upgrade for you while keeping the spirit...
I'm getting a new Ford F-150 + SpaceKap Diablo 8ft Cab (insulation option with 1-1.5" closed cell urethane foam sandwich). I'd like to get an Espar or Webasto Gas Heater for the cab only and am not familiar with the in's and out's of these systems. What would be folks recommendations...
That is definitely a great point to note. Luckily, I think I will be OK for my purposes with a 2018 F-150. I did some digging and a 2018 F-150 Regular Cab with 8 foot bed, V8, 4x4, and heavy payload option come to a nearly 3000 lb payload capacity. Considering the SpaceKap Diablo 8' weighs in...
Thanks Jonnyo. I emailed SpaceKap for a quote and options list. It appears that there is a factory urethane foam option for $640 which should work just fine for me. I'm just looking forward to having a hardshell with some adequate insulation in my upgrade from my RTT.
