Ok, so with all the skid plate questions I have gotten, I am going to ask you guys a legit question.
Why?
The radiator is the only thing in question here. Fwiw, if your hitting anything else, then you can't drive. A small fabbed skid to wrap under the radiator would be all that is needed.
I...
Took it up to Grey Reef yesterday. No gears yet, and it needs them. Truck did great otherwise though.
This is the whole purpose of this rig: Family Time
Some more pics of the front bumper.
Ha!
Its funny, I fish less now that I own a boat. My buddies always refuse to get on the damn oars.
So, I implemented a new rule this year. "If you can't row, you can't go."
Lift is done. Tires/wheels done. Toyo Open Country A/T2. 34x11x17. Love the stance and look. Just what I was after.
Minor frame rubbing at full turn. It grazes the front lower valance on the bumper as well, but that will be cured with the plate bumper I will build.
Had an issue with...
They are just cv boots for a 79-86 Porsche 911
Thx for the props on my old black 4runner. I hear its still on the road/trail with the guy who got it off me in Northern CA.
Yeah, it sucks that they aren't 3way converters to begin with. Meaning it won't charge the battery when plugged into shore power.
Mine was surging and wouldn't even run the interior lights let alone the furnace. New one is much more efficient.
I do plan to throw a 40w solar panel on the roof...
The camper had the original 12v converter that wasn't working at all. Meaning the heater and interior lights wouldn't work. Only the outlets when plugged into shore power. So, it needed updating.
Benefit is that it now charges the battery when plugged in as well.
The old unit.
New one...
And this is why timing belts need to be done every 90k. This is what they look like with 183k on them. Falling apart. The spark plugs were original as well.
Water pump had some light pink residue on the weep hole as well. All of it needed to be done. Truck should be good to go after this.
FWIW, I had the 199mm calipers to start with. I believe they were 13WE calipers. So, this is a big upgrade and with needing to tow the boat and having the camper in the bed, I figure its a must have upgrade. Plus I needed brake anyway since I could feel a shimmy when stopping.
I also did...
1/16" off the caliper side of where they bolt to the spindle. Basically there is a raised pad where they bolt on. And you need to take that pad flush with the rest of the caliper.
The rotor also rubbed a little on the outside of each caliper, so I ground a little there as well. Its not hard to...
So, most guys with Tundras do the Tundra 231mm brake upgrade, but this one will be a little different.
I recently torn down a 4th gen 4runner IFS system. So, these are off of a 07 4th gen Sport Edition model. They will ONLY work with 17" wheels and grinding is required as well as 1.25" wheel...
