Water Tank Level:
FWC installed an electronic water level monitor on our Grandby's water tank. You know the ones: press a button and LEDS light up (hopefully) that tell if the tank is 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 or full. We never had a problem with the one in our FWC but we have in other RVs we've owned. So...
Storage:
FWC builds its cupboards without any shelves. Most of us need extra shelves to better organize ourselves. I have added various versions over the years. Some are simple
others more complex
The base material for the shelves has always been 3/8" Baltic birch plywood with 3/4" X 3/4"...
I admit it; I'm an compulsive tinkerer. On every trip, whether it is a weekend or 2 months, I make a list of 'improvements' I think I need to make to my Fourwheel Camper or Toyota pickup. I think it is a passion. My wife jokingly calls it my obsession. And its not my only one I'm afraid. The...
I think it is great that we can have these discussions. I fall into the camp that doesn't favor change for change's sake but I am the first to appreciate a true improvement. This thread has led me to think I will start a separate one on the 'personalization' of our Grandby. I am a passionate...
Kodiak-Black makes some valid points and right after him JaSAn gives his story about longevity. I certainly hope FWC is constantly looking at new materials and processes but like most manufacturers, if their product sells and develops a good reputation, they are unlikely to change it...
I can't help but notice the apparent concern that FWC has remained largely unchanged for 20 plus years. Perhaps that isn't a bad thing. Perhaps they thought through most of the problems back then and have only had to tweak the design especially when problems-in-use have been identified. We live...
Jeez, these are all good leads (pun intended). I can think of different applications for them all. I ordered and received a Blue Sea double USB port. As with all things Blue Sea, it is very nicely made. Even if it is a bit pricey, I'll bet it lasts a lifetime.
The only plug that seems to be...
Thanks all!
I have used Amphenol for years on the electronics stuff I worked with before I retired and my brother put me on to the Anderson connectors which is where I think I'll end up. I am still perplexed about where I saw the article. I did some more nosing around on the web and I think the...
Thanks Kurt!
I've used Blue Sea products in the past. They are first rate. However, the standard plugs are only rated to 15 amp and I was looking for 20 amp capacity. I do like the twin USB plug. That is in my future for sure.
This getting old isn't for the faint of heart!
I could have sworn that I saw an article on the Portal that described a 12 VDC plug and jack that was much more stout than the standard 'cigarette lighter' jack. I think it was even a DIN standard. For the life of me, I can't find it. I searched...
New to this forum although I've followed the write-ups on the Portal for a while.
Just to add something from the center of Canada, here is my 2011 Tundra Double-Cab Extended box on the way back from picking up our new Fourwheel Camper Grandby in Calgary.
The Tundra is pretty much stock at...
