A Group 34 weighs about 55 pounds, a Group 31 weights about 70 pounds. It's a bit of a stretch to say it weights "significantly" more. I run dual Group 31s. The stock alternator keeps up just fine. Of course, Land Rover alternators do have to put out a very happy amount of power to overcome...
