Older Dyna track 44 front axel Sold

I've been sitting on a Dyna Track built Dana 44 for years now with nothing to put it under. (14ish years?) It's never been used, 0 miles on it. It has an older style ARB locker and 4.10 gears in it. It's got the 3/4 ton bearings with a custom 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern. 60" hub face to face. I'm...

My Cruiser needs a new motor does this cost seem outta line? Consider SFBay area.

No they hadn't seen the rig yet. I had a leak down test done, and the first three cylinders are pretty under spec. The rings are well worn, a new motor is gonna have to happen, but not today luckily. During my deer trip a few weeks ago, the truck went through a quart in 650-700 miles. To say I...

My Cruiser needs a new motor does this cost seem outta line? Consider SFBay area.

I got it to smog yesterday. How? I've no idea, but it buys me some time! I'm going to purchase and short block from CDan @ American Toyota and source a cylinder head, gaskets, timing parts, Ect. I'll have the better part of a factory long block by the time I need it to go in. Cost will be about...

My Cruiser needs a new motor does this cost seem outta line? Consider SFBay area.

I've nothing against V8 or Diesel swaps, but unless you're really up on Ca smog laws, and there are a few that are, then its a nightmare. I'd be headache ahead waiting for a complete supercharger. I'm going to try and smog it, and maybe buy a few months. I'm Sourcing a short block from American...

My Cruiser needs a new motor does this cost seem outta line? Consider SFBay area.

I've got it narrowed to an engine shop in Redding that my dad deals with. Price is reasonable, less than half of the first quote, using mostly OEM with a warranty 3year 36k mi. They're not charging labor to replace things while already in and have to put back anyway. I'm Crazy, but I try not...

My Cruiser needs a new motor does this cost seem outta line? Consider SFBay area.

I read the mud reviews on the enginehause... Run far and run fast! Was the consensus. I'm looking at a short block from Yota at $3k, and seeing what my shop or maybe Valley Hybrids would charge. Mayne.

My Cruiser needs a new motor does this cost seem outta line? Consider SFBay area.

I'm gunna call the guys in Gig Harbour, and see what the story is. If they ship, and if nobodies got any horror stories about them, then my regular shop could do the swap for about $6k. I wasn't real thrilled with $13.5k before, and I'm even less now. Thanks gang! Mayne

Only short blocks available from uncle T. They very in price by thousands depending on dealer. I've been quoted $6000+ for one at the local dealer, and seen them $3400 on line.

My Cruiser needs a new motor does this cost seem outta line? Consider SFBay area.

Yeah, that's heater hoses, OEM parts, vacuum lines, water pump, timing chain with new slippers, injectors, and motor mounts. Shop rates here are normally $120/hr, but that still? As far as a new, used rig, I've got quite the bit of work invested. It wouldn't be a simple swap over. I've talked to...

My Cruiser needs a new motor does this cost seem outta line? Consider SFBay area.

I've got it narrowed down to a shop here in the SFBay area, but dear dog the costs! Granted I'm having some while your in there stuff taken care of, one being new injectors at about.$1k, it's still looking like a $13.5k bill. $4200 for long block, add after that, water pump, timing chain and...

Any experience with DieselToyz toyota conversions?

Thanks guys. Very insightful, and the knowledge on the subject has been a huge help in forming a decision. If I don't keep the 1fz-fe, I'll prolly go vortec v-8, as I know GM parts pretty well. As much as I may romanticize about the toyota diesel, it's coming up to be a bit beyond...

Any experience with DieselToyz toyota conversions?

20 years to recoup cost at current! Lol. No, I'm not doing it fir the mileage. At this point, after talking to a smog tech school, and a referee, it's going to be more pain than I'm prolly repaired to deal with. It's been a week of oh yes and oh no on this front. In Talking to Tor at Torfab...

Any experience with DieselToyz toyota conversions?

I've talked to George a bit on mud. I'll talk to him some more and see where the conversation takes me. One thing Tor mentioned that worries me is parts availability for the 1HD-ft getting thinner, and getting work done if I broke down in North Dump Truck outter Kazoo. I have the feeling that I...

Any experience with DieselToyz toyota conversions?

Actually talked on the phone with a gentleman from your shop yesterday. Very helpful with info and other options for my truck. It was much appreciated. And no, not one of the shops that assured me that a toyota diesel would pass muster here in Ca. I appreciated the candor in that part of the...

Any experience with DieselToyz toyota conversions?

Reason is better pulling powe, range, and flexibility in fueling. I'm also looking at needing an engine in the nearer future... I did a bit more research and in talking with another Co. it seems as the 1HD-Ft amongst other Toyota diesels are getting harder to come by? That and CARB here in...

Any experience with DieselToyz toyota conversions?

I'm checking with my local smog ref here in the sunny South Bay to see if this is even viable. What I would like to know is if anybody has any experience with this company or know somebody who does? They seem to be one of a few whome perform such swaps, and I'd like to have a fuzzy feeling in...

5.3 conversion in my 97Fzj80, from TLC. $34-6k and rebuild my trailer. That would take care of $40k.
