Haven't seen any on our 510xs (delivered June 2017). But we're in Colorado and it's very dry here. After a few years, we had rust on the mesh of a Gobi rack on our jeep. The Gobi racks are extremely well made, but lots of powder coated mesh offers a lot of opportunities for rust. About the...

"Bruce" the 2014 Jeep JKUR Build Thread

Agreed. To get back and away either takes more time, which always works, or if time is short, you need to be able to go where most can't. We did a 2016 JKUR with 37s and 4.88s in large part for that reason. We're very happy with it. Haven't upgraded the power steering. I'm watching that to...

Looking at building a solor Generator and would like some feedback

A good source for Anderson PP parts and other DC power piece-parts: https://powerwerx.com/dc-power-products There are a few environmental boots there for powerpole connectors. Marinco and Blue Sea Systems also have a variety of DC mounts, panels, ports, connectors, etc.

On the other end of the galley spectrum.... we got our 510xs with an 82qt ARB fridge mounted in the normal location. They are very adept at moving things around and ending up with a very well laid out plan. Ours includes the Propex heater installed by SoCal behind the drawers. Very well done.

Solar panels putting out 54% more amps than rated?

Oh yeah... our fantastic fan draws a bit over 3 amps on high. The overall system in the teardrop shows a drain of 0.2 amps when nothing is running. .1 amp is going to the ARB 82qt fridge, and .1 amp is going to the Propex heater. When I pull the fuse for the heater and unplug the DC...

Solar panels putting out 54% more amps than rated?

If it's a Bogart TM-2030 then program mode number 11 selects the value for the shunt. There are two settings: Sh.H = 500A/50mV shunt and Sh.L = 100A/100mV shunt. Those are the two supported shunt types. The Bogart controller and SC-2030 charger are very programmable. The documentation covers...

I think tire size, depending on what is on your Kascade, will have a pretty large effect as well. We added larger diameter brake rotors and different brake pads on our Wrangler when we changed to 37" tires to maintain braking performance. I'd be curious as to what setting you need once you...

More Tekonsa P3 notes We're running 37" Nitto Trail Grapplers on 17" rims on the 510xs, so my setting (braking power = 14) is probably higher than what you need due to the wheel/tire weight. I couldn't get the trailer wheels to lock up as described in the P3 adjustment procedures. I did lock...

For a 510xs behind a Jeep Wrangler 4dr: Standard stuff w/brake type, etc. No boost. On pavement, braking power 14.0. On trails with loose dirt, gravel and steep sections, braking power 6, otherwise the trailer tires lock up and skid. Adjust according to taste and surface conditions when off...

Rain has been no problem, does a good job unless the wind is blowing the rain in at a steep angle. Wind... depends on how strong. Light and somewhat stronger winds are not an issue at all. We had problems on top of a hill where the wind came up out of the valley below and came up under the...

Thanks. Not cheap, but it's a long term investment, so really not too bad. I think I'll do that off-season. We've used the trailer more than I expected since we got it and the cage is indispensable. Would be nice to not see scrapes and scratches in the aluminum over time.

Line-X costs? So, if you don't mind.... what was your ballpark cost for having the front of the trailer (inside the cage), Line-X'd?

No, there isn't an expanded metal back on the cage. At least not on ours. I see what you mean though, the pictures on the So-Cal site do show a back cage piece. An expanded metal back would be nice, but would cost you some space in the storage area. What I've found so far is that the...

I didn't, and for what we carry in there, I wouldn't. We currently carry the following in the cage: 20lb propane bottle propane fire ring self contained cassette style toilet rubberized entryway mats leveling boards risers for a health club sized aerobic step platform (so a short wife can...

Expanded metal cage? -- Yes We're in the, get as much storage/cargo space as possible camp. We have the locking metal cage on our 510xs. If it's in your build budget and you can use the storage space, get it, it's well worth the $$s. The grab bars on the front of the cage are very handy...

    Foldable panel experience?

My $0.02 worth. I went with solid foldable suitcases. Everything improves over time, but some of the earlier foldable panels have durability issues. The idea mentioned by others of having extensions, so you can place your panels, either foldable or solid away from your vehicle or trailer is...

Awning for galley hatch We're trying this: https://www.amazon.com/Hasika-Trailer-Camping-Hatchback-Anti-uv/dp/B00ZKYSCOM Had it out a couple of times so far, and so far so good. It did blow down during a high wind when we were out one day, but no damage. We have a roof rack, so securing the...

About 40 miles east of Los Angeles, CA. according to Google. It's the main facility for So-Cal Teardrops. Our 510xs was built there. Great people. Customer service like the best I remember from my "good old days". :^) I would recommend these folks to anyone in a heartbeat!

Just received our new 510xs last week from Upland. We have the locking storage cage and battery box with a group 31 battery and associated shore charger + solar charger and battery monitor. I'm 6'1", 165lbs and can lift the tongue of the trailer off the ground (trailer dry, just a few pounds...
