I was quite happy with my Outback for the trip. I definitely wouldn't want a larger vehicle. It was quite sufficient for what I wanted to do, and where I wanted to go. To be honest, none of the roads required high clearance or 4WD, so even a normal passenger car could have done the trip...

The entire trip was 19 days. We were in Seward for 2.5 days, St. Elias for 2 days, and Denali for 3.5 days. Everywhere else was less than 24 hours.
