DIY Power Box like a home made Goal Zero Yeti

I finished up the builders guide with all of my parts and prices from Amazon. It is under the INFO tab on my website www.AffordableDCGenerators.com or you can click the link below. It also has the 3 part video series going through how to wire it...

DIY Power Box like a home made Goal Zero Yeti

A smaller battery would certainly lighten the weight up a bit but its not too bad with a big lead acid. I would think that 3-5000 cycles at 50Ah is pretty useful.

DIY Power Box like a home made Goal Zero Yeti

Hey Photobug, let me now what lithium you go with. Just curious the capacity and pricing. Escape, I'm putting a small writeup together and will have it on my website shortly. Stay tuned, I'll put a link up when its done. One major thing...if you go with a battery meter use shielded wire going...

DIY PowerBox for portable power on the cheap

I finished my 3 part series of building my homebrew PowerBox...aka not gonna buy a Goal Zero project. Finished up my assembly and did some field testing. It worked great. Kept the tunes going and my beer cold. All powered up using some solar and my Affordable DC Generator kit. Part 1...

DIY Power Box like a home made Goal Zero Yeti

Hey guys I'm sorry for leaving you hanging. It isn't 100% complete yet. I have the wiring to finish up which all my parts are almost on hand to do. I have a camping trip at the end of August planned which will be my deadline for a full functional test. This will be charging with my Affordable...

Goal zero, or other comparable systems

I had the same thoughts when I read your thread and have been working on one for awhile. It takes a bit of time figuring out the bits and pieces assembled. https://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/diy-power-box-like-a-home-made-goal-zero-yeti.207508/

DIY Power Box like a home made Goal Zero Yeti

So I've been working on some side projects and one of them is a home made power box like an off the shelf Goal Zero but at a fraction of the price. This isn't a kit that I will be offering, just wanted to build one for work and personal use. I can't justify spending $500 to a grand on something...

    Portable DC Generator

Been working on some better voltage control on the Affordable DC Generator. A customer was interested in the Sterling Power products. I did a first round of installation and testing on the AC Delco 12si. This will give the generator better voltage control with lead acid and AGM batteries.

    Portable DC Generator

I just had an idea because all this conversation gets me thinking, I'm going to see if I can find a preferably metal crate that the generator will fit in. But then when you go to run the generator you take it out of the crate place it on the ground, then put the crate over the generator so that...

    Portable DC Generator

The biggest thing is affordability without sacrificing the quality. The bigger scope is to be able to put together a pure sine inverter in the 1-2k range with a single battery and maybe a 100 watt panel and still be in no more then $1000-1200 overall when combined with my generator. You can go...

    Portable DC Generator

The GC160 is pretty quiet until you hold it at the max rpm. I can't compete with the EU2000 in terms of decibel rating. But I can smoke it in terms of simplicity, serviceability, and parts availability/cost. You do realize that for the price of one Honda inverter genny you can put my kit...

    Portable DC Generator

I don't see anything on my regarding compliance or a screen in the muffler. The GX can be used but you most likely will have to get 4 longer bolts and some spacers for the engine plate. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk

    Portable DC Generator

I couldn't have said it better myself! I wanted something that was rugged, inexpensive, and most importantly serviceable down the road. I want to be able to go and buy an alternator off the shelf for cheap money so I can have a spare, be able to find a drive belt in an auto parts store or...

    Portable DC Generator

Hey guys Great conversation going on here! I'll throw into the mix, hopefully don't miss anything. 1) Built to a price point, that is why it is one type of alternator and engine. 10si and 12si can be found in all forms, voltages, and regulation. New, reman, aftermarket marine versions, etc in...

    Portable DC Generator

Eventually I want to make an on board welder set up with it. Have too many other things going on to tackle that right now. That is a big mammer jammer alternator, going to take more then a Honda GC160 to spin that over! The nice thing about my kit is that you can outfit with an alternator and...

    Portable DC Generator

Hey guys Been awhile since I've been on the forum, trying to finish up my 8.1 1 ton square nose Suburban project and maybe actually drive my CUCV this summer. I started up a side company making these portable DC generator kits. I built it to be similar to a Honda EU2000 in size, output, and...

    Should I buy this T100?

Seems like a decent truck but I would have to say that price is too high. Looks solid but has been neglected for the last few years. 4wd not working, no T-belt, and cracked windshield reaks "I don't care". I think you could go down further. You are the one taking risk by buying it sight unseen...
