The Toyota Land Cruiser Is Coming Back To America

Parts availability and ease of fixing stuff. Thats definitely becoming less of a thing with Toyota and the 80’s have gotten challenging to find OEM parts that’s been a factor for a few yrs already. GM is huge with remote types and farmer’s because you can pretty much get any part you need in...

The Toyota Land Cruiser Is Coming Back To America

Good question I’m going with Toyota is in the camp of no right to work on your own vehicle model for the US market. This actually plays into the company taking a silent stance on their brand dominated by Auto Group owned store fronts with now long established history of tacking dealer fees onto...

The Toyota Land Cruiser Is Coming Back To America

Most Yota dealers out west still have 8000-6000 mark ups on the old 4runners and definitely on the Highlanders. Hell even the stupid dated tired last gen Prius has markups. I quit buying new from Toyota 15yrs ago due to this BS. Only buy used let the suckers play that game. First edition will...

The Toyota Land Cruiser Is Coming Back To America

It’s possible but honestly that space sits with the Rav and the new mini truck variant. The 4runner has far better cache in that mid sized proper 4x4 suv zone than the LC does due to the decades of pitching the LC as a lux pig.

The Toyota Land Cruiser Is Coming Back To America

The Sequoia redesign was definitely needed but instead of doing something that gave Tahoe/Yukon and Expedition shoppers a possible alternative they sorta made a weird 4runner/LC bastardized rendition with a really messed up rear floor design thats trash for any utility function. I was super...

The Toyota Land Cruiser Is Coming Back To America

Lots of V8 4runner owners ditched them when the ABS system went to the floor literally. Same system Mercedes put in the 500 series SLKs same issue too. Toyota hasn’t been the poster boy of simplicity and bullet proof for over a decade now.

The Toyota Land Cruiser Is Coming Back To America

The range thing was a big problem out west with my J80. Absolutely hated the lousy range so much so it was a big reason we moved to a Sequoia and got a 20% bump in range easily which made a big difference. However my current Expedition heavy tow consistently is about 2mpg average behind my...

The Toyota Land Cruiser Is Coming Back To America

Just watched the tfl review. Couple of things jump out at me. Toyota has a serious model line up issue now. They have 3 versions of the 4runner in slightly different configurations and all very close in size. The strange rear false raised floor bump up from the rear hatch seen in the Sequoia...

    New Bike Advice Needed

Same!!! The kid at the shop thought I was mental when I told him to take 1 inch off each handle bar end. The wide ******** handle bar thing is nutz.

New Tacoma vs Colorado vs Ranger

I noticed they all got wider! The few actual off road trips I did with my J80 and Sequoia any thing wider would have been a big fat nope. Hence why my Expedition is strictly a dirt road rig and not a off road rig too damn fat for the challenging stuff. Starting to wonder if the ultimate Auto...

    Part time 4WD

Always w Always wondered how big of a drivability effect it had on my 80. No doubt a big suck on the mileage

1/2 Ton vs 3/4 Ton for Family Adventures?

Contractor buddy replaced his Dodge diesel with a 6ft bed Tremor when the 7.3 just came out. He loves it just added two more 7.3 utility trucks to his contractor business for his guys. This is CA. He runs 35k a yr mileage. I Just saw him last week. Asked if he still liked the truck. Yup said its...

1/2 Ton vs 3/4 Ton for Family Adventures?

Also not mentioned The steering gear on the F150 is car style Rack system. The F250 and up run the heavy track bar system that do wear and cost a bit more to rebuild when you get the death wobble issues. Not ideally a daily driver due to maintenance cost, unladen ride quality, size, fuel...

1/2 Ton vs 3/4 Ton for Family Adventures?

If your not hauling lumber or wet messy stinky stuff in the bed of the truck all the time the Expedition is definitely the wagon version of the F150. I haul bee hives in the Expedition and my tools and property management/ repairs etc a bunch. The really messy crap gets utility trailer use. Even...

1/2 Ton vs 3/4 Ton for Family Adventures?

How many kids are you going to have? Grand parent hauling? I went from a Subaru- to a J80 to a Sequoia and now have a heavy tow pack Expedition. The Expedition ie wagon version of the F150. It’s shorter than the F150 which has been really nice. We consistently average 1-2mpg less than our 2.5I...

Pulling an 8000 lb trailer off-road

Woody is stuck in the 90’s. All the modern turbo units run like 80’s diesel’s for low end torque and scalded cats when you keep the go pedal mashed. As for weight? Vs unpaved? Even a 8000lb truck is only a paved or dry solid graded road vehicle! You want to go beyond that? You need to leave the...

New Tacoma vs Colorado vs Ranger

Definitely agree on the turning radius thing. My 2019 heavy tow standard length Expedition pulls a U turn about 6in more space needed than my Subaru Outback. And it’s shorter than the mid sized crew with 5ft bed. Far better passenger comfort/ seating configuration options. I still haul stuff...

New Tacoma vs Colorado vs Ranger

Just a side note All dealers especially big auto group owned store fronts have moved to a hidden stock format in CA. Which tends to lead dealer scheme trends ahead of other markets in the US. The local Mercedes dealer has literally stripped their lot clean of all inventory except 1 example of...

New Tacoma vs Colorado vs Ranger

The wagon thing is particularly weird at Toyota today. The very badly needed new Sequoia which I owned a gen 1 and gave to my dad. The new one was a huge miss for me. It’s basically a 4runner with a much needed modern power plant and transmission. Side by side they are shockingly close to the...
